Quick Questions and Answers

I was passing troops through America to attack Copenhagen when Washington gave the "Your troops worry me" where I had to either declare war or say I was just passing by. i was just passing by, but I wanted to go after him once Denmark was finished. How long after saying "Just passing by" can I DOW without a diplo hit?

Should be 30 turns, like a trade deal, but it may be 50.

Hi everyone! I'm new and I just wanted to ask you: is it it possible to have an inner view of the palce and cities as it was in the previous versions? we're playing with CivV.
Thanks!

So I recently downloaded the Civ 5 demo from steam to try before I buy. The first time I started the game it went all the way to the end of the opening cinematic then crashed. I edited the options to skip the opening, but after I did that the game would open up as a little black box in the corner. I can still hear game music but I can see anything only a small black box. According to dxdiag I have directx11 and at least the minimum spec to play. I'm new and just made this account, so If this is in the wrong place I apologize. What I am wondering is if this same problem would happen if I were to buy the full game? Thank you to anyone who can help me resolve this issue.

What's the rule for shooting over stuff with Archers and things like that? Can you ever shoot over woods/jungle/hills, if you're on a hill yourself, say?

Also, can trade routes be completed over rivers before you get the 'roads over rivers' ability?

For shooting over things, if you are on a hill, you can shoot over other hills and forests/jungles, but not forested or jungled hills. Three range can screw things up, though.

You certainly can.

Just wondering, what would be the actual number of people in a city that has about 40 population?

30 603 280 people. The equation for population is p^2.8*1000, where p is equal to the numerical population of the city.

Thank you. :)

How can you stop another Civ from winning a Domination Victory (We're shifting into the Renaissance Era now), especially when you're trying to win a cultural? Would it be smart to build up and then go for their most important cities?

If you are in control of your own capitol, the AI can never win a domination victory. They can win space race, diplomatic, or cultural but domination requires you to be the only civ in control of its original capitol. Of course if you are the last civ on the leader's chopping block, it might be tricky to hold your capitol.

I have just completed a war with Dido to liberate Cape Town. On the Peace Negotiation I asked for 50% of her capital, 3 Iron and Hong Kong - she refused. Checked for her options and was offered 100% of her capital plus 3 Iron, 3 Horses, Marble, Spices, Silk and Crab. Playing Epic, so the Peace Treaty is for 15 turns. The Resources were shown as being for 45 turns.

It is now 15 turns later and the Peace Treaty has ended, but the resources have also terminated, even though the negotiation explicitly showed a 45 turn period. Is this a bug or a faulty display?

She also 'stole' all of Lhasa's capital.

Last I checked, resources and GPT portions of peace treaties continued past the expiration of the treaty itself. If you go back to war with them, of course, the resources will stop. It's possible she lost access to one or more of the luxuries she was giving you through barbarian pillaging or wars with others, in which case the entire trade would cancel.

Unlikely for her to lose 6 resources on exactly the same turn as the peace treaty runs out. It is more likely to be a bug, either in setting the period different to the display or in clearing them on the end of the peace treaty even when not expired.

What do you mean 50% of her capital?

I have Atomic Theory and even have uranium if that matters. Yet I can't find any reason why I would not be able to select the Manhattan Project (it's greyed out in the build menu). It's probably something simple that I'm overlooking.

Are there reasons that prevent the building of the Manhattan Project besides having Atomic Theory?

Thanks for any help.
