Quick Questions and Answers

When is the world builder gonna be back fully operational (without any error messages)?

I think if you go to the C&C sub-forum, a post is stickied from Dennis Shirk with a code you can enter to access the beta SDK to test it out......

Thanks a lot kingchris

No problem, anytime!

then ill just wait untill it is out of beta

EDIT: waiting is gonna give me time to figure stuff out, cause i already have two questions: 1) how do you name the scenario/map (cause now i have 2 "mediteranean"), and 2) why wont the starting locations work if i load the scenario through advanced setup?

My family likes to play Civ V MP over LAN. We play wireless. I have a top of the line modem and router. Yet when the 4th or sometimes 3rd computer joins, the game just stops. It freezes or whatever.

Please tell me there is a fix, and do not say that I have to hook the laptops up with a wire...

Thanks!

Long time lurker, first time poster.
I purchased Civ V Vanilla when it came out, but only played it for 2 hours (i was still hooked on Civ IV). If I get Brave New World on Steam will it include Gods and Generals? Or do I have to upgrade to the Gold Edition?
Nevermind figuredit out.

I just purchased the Gold Edition of Civ V. It is supposed to include G&K. I do not see G&K in my list of games, but my account does show that I have it...

Do I just open up the regular Civ V and all the "stuff" in the Gold Edition will just be available?

Yes. And to verify, fire up the game and on the main menu you will see a button for DLC. Click that to see what is installed.

And if you want to roll back to play vanilla (God help you!), or disable a particular DLC, for a particular game, that is where you will do it. Just remember to re-enable the DLC afterwards.

First question is: Do you get a penalty for doing a trade demand to an afraid civilization with which you have a DOF?

Second question: If I bomb a city with an atomb bomb how much will this affect the health of the city and the buildings inside?

1. Yes
2. Depends on the city defence. If it's higher than 120, don't expect too much damage. It'll loose a couple of random buildings and around 2-4 citizens. If the city's under 40, well, it depends on what difficulty you're playing on.

Having had enough connection issues with Civ 5 playing with just my one computer connected via wireless to the internet I shudder to think what running 3-4 copies on the same router would do. Nothing good, I'm sure. Still, some ideas:

Might be counter-intuitive, but have you tried playing in Steam's offline mode and seeing if you can get a local network game going? You can't play via internet that way but you should still be able to use a LAN and it would take Steam's weirdness out of the loop.

Have you tried a similar sized multiplayer setup with other people over the internet (with just one player locally)? It's possible your issues are with one or more of the PC's not being able to handle the multiplayer rather than the LAN itself.

For troubleshooting, have you tried your 4 player match hooked together with ethernet cables? I understand that's not what you ultimately want to do but if you can't get it working that way either, at least you will know it's not the wireless router that is the issue.

And my old standby for Civ 5 multiplayer issues: Play Civ 4! It may not be smooth as butter for multiplayer, but at least it works!

Good luck, and hope my ideas are mildly useful. There is also a dedicated multiplayer sub-forum you might get more experienced help in, if you haven't checked it out already.

False. Bombs and missiles drop the city's health by 100 and kill 50% of the population. If the city has a Bomb Shelter built, its population drops by 12.5%, instead. Buildings are never destroyed by nuclear weapons.

I'm not seeing the red line range indicator of fighter units when trying to engage in air sweeps. Does anyone else have the same problem?
