Quick Questions and Answers

So I just downloaded the full game after playing the demo up to turn 100. Is there anyway for me to continue from that save file? Or do I have to start a new game?

I'm not sure. Is there a folder for the demo on your computer? Did you get the Gold Edition, or vanilla? There should be a way to, though.

I'm fairly certain I did this when the game first came out, but it's possible versions have changes sufficiently since the demo was written that it is now impossible. Was the demo fully functioning as far as the G&K expansion goes (if cities produce faith is the easiest way to tell), and is that the version you have now?

You should be able to either move the save file from your demo installation over to the full version's save folder. If it shows up on the list of save games and loads, you're golden. Otherwise you'll have to start fresh. Even if the game loads and runs it still might behave strangely as Civ loads some game info from the game files each time but stores other details in the save file and will only refresh changes when a new game starts.

Good luck, welcome, and either way, enjoy the game!

Sorry, missed the original question. If you mean sounds like cows mooing and that, yes I have them in my games.

No problem. Thanks for finally answering it. As for the sounds I meant the ones coming from the actual cities when in city screen mode. The sounds of car horns, people, etc.

An example is at 13:20 in this BNW video:

Also, another question: is there anyway to make the name of empires longer? For example when naming a civ it stops after a certain amount of letters; is there anyway within documents to make the character limit more?

quick question.

and this has happened numerous times. In Cusco, you can see slightly north west, there's a horse upgrade. I am trying to allocate resource to work on it but it doesn't appear. Why is that so?

I am new to this forum, I would like to know how to get rid of this thing above my avatar that says chieftain, I am not a chieftain player and it makes me look bad, but anyways. How does this work, do I need more frequent post or a lot or is there something in settings. thanks and I hope I placed this in right spot in the forum.

Further to Browd's reply, you can't work a tile that is more than 3 tiles away. But if you have improved a luxury or strategic resource (to improve it, it must be inside your border) that is more than 3 tiles away you still get the resource.

In this case, you get the specific number of horses strategic resource that that tile generates.

Is Nikola Tesla still available as a great scientist? I remember seeing him once in vanilla Civ V with his name spelt wrong, and I haven't seen him since :(.

Quick question: are any of the victories quicker (not easier) on Immortal or Deity?

I've been playing on Emperor and my two best times by far were 299 turns Diplo with Siam, and a 316 Science with Celts. With that last one I got lucky and was the first to find one of the game-breaking Natural Wonders which gave me 500 gold.

I play on Pangea standard.

I feel like SVs might be quicker since the AI has more money for RAs on higher difficulties.

Go to "My Account" - then click "Edit Your Details". You can choose your own title.

For the Liberty Policy that reduces the cost of future cities you found, does that apply retroactively?

What I mean is say I know I want to complete the Liberty Tree. If I use policies to get the settler one first, then adopt the one that reduces policy costs for cities built, will it be the same effect on my policy costs if I do it the other way around?

For future policy costs, yes, but retroactive doesn't mean there is any "refund" of culture you spent on policies you took before taking Representation.

EDIT: So, for example, one route through Liberty would be
  • Liberty opener
  • Republic (1 hammer per city)
  • Collective Rule (free settler; 3rd policy; assume city #2 is settled before 4th policy is taken)
  • Citizenship (free worker)
  • Representation (5th policy)
  • Meritocracy/finisher (6th policy)
and another route would be
  • Liberty opener
  • Citizenship (free worker)
  • Representation (3rd policy)
  • Republic
  • Collective Rule (free settler and, again, assume city #2 is settled before next policy is taken)
  • Meritocracy/finisher (again, 6th policy).

Your third policy would have been the free settler in route 1 and Representation in route 2, while your fifth policy would have been Representation in route 1 and free settler in route 2. Because Representation is only relevant once you've settled city #2, the cost of policies 4 and 5 in route 2 would be 15% lower (Standard map) than the cost of policies 4 and 5 in route 1. Once you take policy 5 in both, the cost of policy 6 should be the same (both routes have 2 cities and Representation), but you get no "refund" or "credit" for the "extra" 15% culture you had to spend in route 1 on policies 4 and 5.

Can AI move or dispand captured workers on same turn? Either way AI captured my worker and worker just disappeared immediately.

Edit: It was probably former city state worker.

That is one of the long-standing AI cheats. Human player has to wait a turn to delete a captured worker, but AI can do it on the same turn.

He should be in since Vanilla is always enabled and files from Vanilla will transfer over to G&K. Plus, I don't know what's the point of removing a great person from the game

Domination against 4 or less AIs, Diplomatic, and Time victory

Just to get confirmation, gunpowder units are Melee too right? Im asking for the honour policy where you get +15% for melee units

I wiped out the Dutch and took Amsterdam which had Buddhism. Can I not enhance that? I just got a great prophet and the only option it has is found a new religion.

What I really want is the desert faith thingy, which no one has. Maybe new religion is the right course anyway.

You can only enhance a religion that you founded. If you take over another Holy City, then you can use an inquisitioner to erase the holy city status.
