Quick Questions and Answers

I wonder, has anybody played Civ 5 on the same map as Civ 4 with the settings as much the same? Playing as much the same strategy making the same moves, building the same units and buildings?
Just curious...

It does list their tile bonus but I don't see anywhere it lists their improvement bonus, no, but I'm pretty sure all Plantations on Luxuries provide +1 gold.

Thank you for your efforts, Heerlo and Cleric. Look like I'll be testing some things on a quick settler map. :scan:

They sure do. And if your religion allows to build Pagodas they can build that sort of thing as well (with faith).

So if they were to build a pagoda from my religion, and then replace my religion with their own again, does the pagoda remain functional in the city? (logically I would think yes but figured I might as well ask)

Yes the pagoda still works

What does evasion 100 mean? The stealth bomber has evasion 100, on help I tried to figgured out what the number means but it doesn't say anything. Does it mean they can't be intercepted? In a MP duel I couldn't intercept with my fighter jets any stealth bomber of a warmongering player. He just destroyed city by city with ~20 stealth bombers while my ~20fighter jets on interception mode didn't defend AT ALL.What is the fighter jet used for in CIV V and does the promotion that gives +50 evasion help your stealth bombers or is it useless cause 100 already reached?(all DLC including g&k)

Evasion 100 means that damage taken from interceptions is reduced by 100%. So, yes, the Evasion promotion and trying to use fighters to intercept them are both useless. I recommend a hearty dose of nuclear fire to eliminate the problem temporarily.

So stealth bombers that have that can't be intercepted?

What are fighter jets used for, if they cannot intercept stealth bombers? To be overpowered against bombers and great war bombers? To intercept paratroopers although normal fighters already can do that? Why are stealth bombers in civ V so overpowered?

Under what conditions can multiple Great People be spawned in the same turn, in Gods and Kings? Is it different in Vanilla? I was playing vanilla and tried to time two Scientists to the same turn, but only one popped.

Also, is there any rhyme or reason to what yield bonuses are added by the various normal tile improvements? Civilopedia doesn't help me determine that, say, Cattle, Sheep, and Horses all have different bonuses to their tile, and cause a pasture built on them to do something different in each case. I want to know what improved Citrus does.

GP generation is checked for each city sequentially, so it is never possible to get multiples of the same one through "normal" means on the same turn. You can time the bars to fill up such that you can get one of each, or you can get additional GP's through building certain wonders or completing the Liberty social policy tree.

The best way to know what an improvement on a tile gives you is to move a worker there and mouse over the build icon for that improvement. It will tell you what the yield change is for that action, though some modifications are not displayed properly (such as losing 2 science for chopping a jungle near a city with a university). Plantations on citrus give +1 gold iirc, in addition to linking the luxury to your trade network.

Stealth bombers are end-game units, and are overpowered for the same reason the GDR was added to the game: to make it easy for whoever gets them first to win a domination victory.

As for fighter jets, their main purpose is overpowering lower tier bombers and bombarding fighters. They're also useful for slaughtering helicopter gunships.

Incidentally, the best counter for AI stealth bombers I have found is blocking the ground access to your contested city. They will usually waste all 20 of their bomber strikes on your city even after it is fully reduced, leaving your field units untouched guarding the approaches to keep enemy ground units from being able to capture it. Although really, if you've allowed your opponent to accumulate 20 stealth bombers, that's a problem in and of itself. As said above, nukes work too.

It's anyhow stupid. I can't imagine how two players with 30stealth bombers each make war against each other, all the cities are down to 1hp and every army visible gets killed right away.Only the one wins who clicks on his destroyer fastly at the beginning of a turn to the city or who nukes first.Btw if you want to know, we banned nukes for 50more turns, I didn't know my 20fighter jets don't help at all and now he has 2 of my cities and 1 allied cs.The GDRs are in my opinion not so overpowered because they are easy targets for stealth bombers too...

My opponent also said that his stealth bombers are even promoted with +50 evasion.I asked him why just because it doesn't make any sence. He answered that it also reduces damage taken by 50% when the stealth bomber attacks a unit and he sais he tested it.I don't believe it really but can anyone confirm me this?

Sounds right. Stealth bombers' power is balanced by the AI's complete lack of ability to wage war. But if you're hoping for multiplayer and late game balance and lack of stupidity, I'd suggest playing Civilization 4: Beyond the Sword or, with luck (but I'm not holding my breath), the upcoming Brave New World expansion to Civ 5.

Hi.
A quick question: is culture cost increase because of founding cities also based on the map size? I am not really sure, but I remember that I have read there "new cities increase culture costs by 10%". Now it reads "by 15%". I thought my "representation" might be bugged, was lazy to check though.

Yes. Base policy cost increase per city is 15% for standard, 10% for large and 7% for huge. Representation chops 33% off those numbers.

Thanks.
I remembered 10% for large it seemed, and when it read 15%, the 5% is somehow equal to that 33% provided by representation. So I thought it somehow got bugged and didn't really work as intended.
Thanks for feedback.

Does the "free" GP from Educated Elite (bottom of Patronage tree - I believe that's what it's called) increase your empire's GP costs?

Meaning in a culture game, should I delay this policy to the point where all my GAs have spawned so I avoid increasing the GP counter?

They're gifted to you, so they shouldn't increase you counter.

IIRC, this one does not increase your bucket. I was disappointed to find out that the Maya long count ones do though, so I may be mistaken.
