Quick Questions and Answers

IMO the only viable way to play a tundra start is a warmonger playthrough. Tundra is so wholly and utterly useless that you need to find some fertile land as soon as possible. If there's fresh water nearby it's a little less bad, but it's still in every way inferior to a desert, plains or grassland start.

I would keep trying on chieftain and reroll a starting location that's a little less awful.

ok i will try doing chieftain on earth map or something. and if i do get tundra will do much warmongering. i take it something released from tundra gives everyone stuck there an attitude

Its been probably already asked, but about Korea's UA:

Is it a tech boost everytime you get a scientific building and a scientific wonder done? Or is any kind of wonder sufficient? The formulation is open for both interpretations.

Also, doees hybrid functions good in mp?

Only buildings that provide actual science (beakers) qualify -- wonders that just provide a Great Scientist (e.g., Hubble) or Great Scientist points (such as Oracle and Brandenburg Gate) do not qualify.

Does garrisoning your inquisitor in your own cities prevent other civ from changing ur city's religion? Or must i consume the inquisitor...

An inquisitor parked in the city (or in one of the 6 tiles immediately adjacent to the city) will deter enemy missionaries and great prophets from manually converting the city.

It will do nothing to combat passive, city-to-city religious pressure.

As long as an inquisitor is in or on a tile next to one of your own cities, that city can not be converted.

is there a mod to change the espionage in civ 5 to something more like civ 4?

never heard of that, but theres mod that makes civ5 diplomacy screen and stuff into civ4, with map and tech trading and 'what do you think of _____'

So I'm playing with Japan on Chieftain difficulty. This is my first Civilization game that I'm playing. And I have a big lead in the score. I made some rookie mistakes at the beggining, but that didn't cost me. I eliminated Austria(that's the 1st mistake), I have captured France's capital and Inka's capital. Now I'm going to Greece.
Which difficulty you reccomend me to play my next game? I was thinking to play on Prince diff. with Zulu or Poland. Any other advice you can give me?

I would step up one difficulty level a time. You seem to like warmongering so why not take Germany and kick some butt? ;)

I would play with prince. It's "the basic difficulty”. Not too hard but not too easy. Chieftain is good to learn game mechanics but strategies used in it won't work in other difficulties. Conquering whole world is not really option to win anymore.

What happens if you build Hagia Sophia when the religion cap has been met? Can you still found a religion?

I don't know what you mean by this. Many players on higher difficulties are going for domination vic.
My next game will probably be something more peaceful, time vic. or DV.

Do DLC's for CIV ever go on sale?

Generally at the same time as Civ 5 itself does, and usually at the same percentage (barring new releases). At this point it's likely to be better to get the Complete Edition rather than the DLC individually, even with a steep discount. Keep an eye out, Steam's spring sale should be coming soon-ish.

In previous versions of Civ, they had a conquest VC where you needed to conquer *all* of the AI's cities. In Civ5, you only need to conquer the capitals. Or make sure that a warmongering neighbor conquered the capital of a smaller AI, and then you take theirs.

The happiness bonus from playing at Chieftain level means that you can afford to puppet lots of cities. One needs to be a bit more selective which cities you keep on the higher difficulty levels.

I *think* that's what he means ...
