Unless you mean [X] [1] [2] [Y], lol.
(I blame my English, hehehe.)
Yes exactly [X] [1] [2] [Y]

(Proximity to the vassal capital city may be another factor as there is another game mechanic/feature in CIV IV whereby distance from capital calculates whether or not a gifted city is "liberated" to the recipient - I suppose because within a certain distance a gifted city is considered to be within their "natural" territory. Some players on advanced levels even use this mechanic/feature to improve relations with neighbouring civs; they build a city (usually on a poor site) within 5 tiles of the neighbours capital and then "liberate" it to them to get what is known as the "liberation bonus" which is a boost to relations with the neighbour so that they are much less likely to be aggressive to you.
Isn't CIV IV a marvellously complex game?!

Vanilla is not bad, but C2C takes it to the Moon.
Literally as well, by the way, lol.
I've never played Civ 5 or 6, but I instantly hated their "everything-is-on-the-map" functionality, so I don't feel like ever even trying.
C2C still has a long journey before itself, until it becomes a truly finished product - and that's amazing, given what it already provides us with.
Some people complain that such complexity makes the game less challenging (since AI can't understand all the tricks that are accessible to the human player).
But I rather find it to be a good thing that I can go for global domination, instead of constantly fighting for survivor.
And if someone wants a harder challenge - you can always self-impose ANY fake rules onto yourself (like a fake one-city challenge that will lock out many wonders).
Or you can (and that's an IN-GAME OPTION!) switch to the weakest civ every once in a while (though I find this annoying to clean up someone else's mess).
The play-and-replay capabilities are really massive, lol.

Cool, I am thinking of trying C2C

Em, so how come are you posting questions here, lol?
Like, isn't there an official Civ4 thread somewhere?
I don't mind, it just looks kinda weird.
As of the mod - oh, you definitely have to, lol.
C2C is a whole new world, despite trying to "stick to reality" as much as possible in a Civ game.
As in, it's not introducing "magic" and "other species", like some other BIG mods do.
It's just us, humans - and the more or less "normal" history.
AS IF, loool.
C2C is an experience that will take you some time to adjust to (definitely will take you several games to realize what you are doing, and WHY) - but it's really worth it.
Enjoy!
One note, though: Don't expect to be FINISHING your games (besides Conquest or other mathematically defined victories).
Literally so.
The game is VAAAST and LOOONG.
You won't be a THIRD into the TECH TREE at a point you'll feel the way people do during Vanilla games conclusion.
More or less, and so to speak.
It's IMMENSE.

@Somebody613 ,
Thank you for your Ambassadorial work for the Mod. :)

I'm just a very thankful player who finds this mod to be a real gem, lol.
While I often criticize certain points about it, I still enjoy playing it - and would recommend it to everyone who likes Civ.
I in fact do mention it once in a while on other sites, lol.

I originally posted here because I searched all civ iv forums for advice on gifting cities to vassal states and this was the only thread where there had been a recent discussion. Glad you don't mind even though it looks weird and thanks for your info on C2C; sounds great.

Am I allowed to make a mod mod to add more natural wonders?

Am I allowed to make a mod mod to add more natural wonders?
Of course! Are you capable of working with the graphic side of things on that? (your work if comprehensive enough might even be welcome in the mod core!)

Yes. I took graphic design in high school and am familiar with gimp, though I originally learned photoshop. If needed I am sure I can learn how to use other software as well. Dunno if modeling is needed but I am also familiar with blender. I am new to programming so I wanted to give this a try as a project to learn (xml is fine... I am mostly curious about python and have already taken a look at the py files). I also unpacked the FPK files to look at the artwork I would need to create. I am going crazy with the small amount of natural wonders currently in C2C. The first two have to be Zhangye Danxia and the Cave of Crystals. If I learn, and others are willing to give me help (advice) when needed, I will devote some free time to this and potentially to others in the future if I get this "done" (mapscripts because multimaps and I heard ya might need more people for that). I also like the idea of natural wonders on other maps. If I cant get help or figure out a problem and get stuck I am likely to abandon my efforts if I am left to fend for myself (sorry... I will try my best). I am a 24/7 family caregiver and am currently in the process of learning botany while also creating a gardening website (so my free time is at a premium since I also enjoy gaming among other projects). I have loved this mod for a decade now and would love to help improve it as it has been the only game I have ever stuck with. Since I heard multimaps are potentially here, after being a myth for so long, I wanted to start small and with what I would enjoy helping with. I have made a fork on Github and have the desktop software installed. I already have a working project folder for Natural Wonders in the hope I would get a yes. I also downloaded the original platyping version to find all the py files associated with it in the C2C mod folder. If possible, please let me know of any files outside of the natural wonders folders that I would need to edit. If not, then I shall do my best. Sorry for the block of text.

PS. I also have a sister in college for art so I can get help with that if needed lol.

PPS. I do have minor experience with programming. Mostly HTML for my site and Java via Eclipse. I do not profess to being proficient at all. I am willing to learn and learn fast by looking at examples and understanding the examples.

PPS. I wanted to do a mod mod in the hope it would make it into the core. I want to prove I can be useful. I am also doing this to prove to myself that I can do it. I can only hope it will also improve the quality and enjoyability of the mod. I also need a distraction that will also provide me with a feeling of fulfillment. Also, the lack of natural wonders is quite literally driving me insane at times.

You're welcome to join us in discussions on Discord as well - seems most of the people with time to teach how to get things done mostly are looking there.

https://discord.gg/Q62YZym3

We have a new unit 3d design guy helping there and diving in and learning some stuff so the discussions on art and how to go about 3d stuff and getting it all into the game is very alive right now.

For natural wonders, I'm not sure how the game places them exactly, but I do know there are corresponding buildings that they should open up for being in city vicinity and so on. I think the python is pretty simple and if you follow the design of them as we have them it should be a fairly easy affair to add them - I asked about the art and in particular the modelling because I'd suspect that would be the toughest part for these.

with Toggle Show All Resources Display, about half of the time I load my game, it only shows Luxury resources. I haven't seen any indication of a way to turn it to all resources, so I mostly just have to hope it's all resources when I do load the game..

Zoom out to global view, when you have clicked button to show resources.
It sometimes changes for no reason.

This is the best mod out there by far. I have not played anything but this since I discovered it. No Civ 5 or 6 either for me.

Is the forest fire feature supposed to destroy lumbermill improvements? I have 3 lumbermills that randomly disappear at times, I get no notification about being pillaged. They are just are gone.

Edit: Never mind, figured out it is burglars pillaging. I forgot there is no notification for some criminal units pillaging.

Playing the "Space Map - Snofru Standard07_V6" scenario and noticed that the penguins seem to have had a population explosion
