What do you make yourself when you don't feel like taking a while to cook something, going out to eat, and are all by your lonesome? I have a few staples but they ain't enough and I want more.

These recipes must be not much work. They don't have to be quick if they are easy and aren't much work, but if they take a frenzy for two minutes that's fine too. The only rules are that it must not take much work and it must be tasty!

So one of my personal favorites is Naan pizza. It consists of me taking naan, putting shredded cheese on it, and whatever topping in the fridge I feel like (some leftover chicken dish, a hot sauce, whatever). Then I heat it up in the toaster oven.

Another thing I do often is make myself a scrambled egg sandwich, and I usually add to the eggs a little milk, some spices, pepper, cheese, and whatever is in the fridge. Toast some buns while it fries and you're set.

Of course while home I tend to rely on leftover food made by mom but I can't do that forever. Whatcha got people?

Stir fry rice, mushroom, egg and frankfurter. Heat 1 tsp oil, scramble an egg first, add mushroom, diced frankfurter, then rice. Add a little salt and keep stirring. Ready when you can't wait, or before burnt. Serve with chilli.

Macaroni and Cheese or Salad. Alternatively, anything with instructions on the box.

Cheese Crisps are super easy too.

This is an excellent idea for a topic.

I make a lot of those sorts of pizzas too. I usually use some sort of bread, kethup or tomato purre, cheese, organo and some meat if available.

Another really cool thing is potatoes thin sliced with cheese ( I prefer parmesan, but anything will work) in the oven. Add nutmeg if available.

There are things you should have in your house at all times. Things that keep.

Pay attention kids, you are about to learn something important.

Potatoes
Pasta
Onions
Garlic
Rice
Beans, dried (I like blackeyed peas and kidney beans)

Spices:
yeah, we already covered garlic. sadly you'll pay the earth for it whereas I get it for two-fifths of bugger all. But you still need it
Cumin (be lazy and get it ground)
Oregano
Basil
Pepper: black, white and red
Paprika: here they call it sweet paprika, because hot paprika will kill you
Chili powder: another thing you can't get here, but in the US is mild and useful

Oil: proper olive oil, extra virgin, first cold pressing. Yes, have nasty corn oil for disgusting things, but when you are cooking a proper meal , use the olive oil.

You can't go wrong if you put a little olive oil in a skillet, saute an onion, with some garlic, and just add whatever. It's just a dam shame that nobody can cook any more.

Eggs

Pizza:

1 cup warm water
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1 package yeast

Let the yeast proof (bubble up) and mix in 2 cups of flour. Let the dough rise until doubled, then roll out on a floured surface . If you're brave you can toss it! Put on a pan and let rise again, then bake 12 minutes at 400F then add tomato sauce and toppings, return to oven for 12 minutes.

I'm hungry!

I take a tortilla, put minced meat in it, a little soy sauce, curry powder and put it in the microwave. Damn great and easy.

I make a quick sandwich with whatever I can find in the fridge and heat it up.

It normally consists of:
- bread
- a bit of butter (I'm not a big fan but everyone around here uses it on everything)
- any form of already-prepared meat
- eggs
- tomatoes
- cheese
- sour cream, mustard, mayo

If I'm really in a hurry, I can eat incredibly basic foods and enjoy them a lot. :D

Omelet with whatever I can find in the house.

Spaghetti with tomato sauce with grated romano. Still my favourite meal of anything.

Pizza Bagel

Take one bagel and slice it in half.
Spread a healthy amount of pizza/pasta sauce on open sides of the bagel.
Add what ever you like (meat, vegies, etc.) and cheese on top.
Put in toaster over. When cheese is melted, take out and enjoy.

Tuna Melt!

I use tasty pickles instead of celery. Whip up some tuna in a bowl with mayo, add some sweet mustard (optional), cut up the pickle into small chunks and mix it in, put it on bread and put your favorite cheese on top and throw it in the oven. Easy and filling.

Obviously you can mess with the above to suit your tastes but the main thing is tuna and cheese and bread - done.

You can even do it when all the dishes are dirty, ultimate lazy person meal.

Eggs
My mom is teaching me how to cook her recipes and I'll be damned if most don't start with olive oil, onion, garlic, and fill in the blank spices and meat/veggies. I personally love turmeric and red chili powder, which I tend to use with kidney beans, black eyed peas, and chicken but you can skip the chicken. With naan that's just my favorite thing ever.

I take a tortilla, put minced meat in it, a little soy sauce, curry powder and put it in the microwave. Damn great and easy.
I like the sound of that. Will try later, if I can find soy sauce.

I'm gonna have to buy my own supply of spices and veggies for college. Probably gonna be hard to keep in stock, but that's what roommates that are getting a liberal arts education are for: errands.

Usually, I take sandwiches (almost always some variation on cheese, mustard, meat, and random whatever's in the fridge) and grill them.

You can either do this by getting a panini grill or something akin to those George Foreman grills, by heating up two pans and sandwiching the sandwich between both of them after they've been heated up, or by buttering the bread and cooking it on both sides over medium-ish heat.

blah, i love omelets but i couldn't make one without burning the house down to save my life.

1. Crack a few eggs and mix with some milk or cream and salt and pepper.
2. Beat with a whisk or a fork etc.
3. Use a large pan and coat said pan with oil or butter.
4. Heat and then pour egg mixture and turn the pan so that the egg coats the pan.
5. Let it firm up and just shake it out of the pan.
6. Plate.

It's like scrambled eggs minus the scrambling.

Fried egg sammich, with spicey mustard and cheese, not swiss, which tastes bad with it.
Take some chicken, dice up some potatos, mix em together, throw on whatever, then put em on the skillet. Okay, any meat and veggie will do, but chicken and potato tastes good.
Anything you can put on a skillet to cook really.
Rice

When lazy:
Pasta with meat balls and some kind of tomatosauce.

-Defrost meat balls
-Boil the pasta and cook the meat balls in a frying pan.
Takes 5-10(depending on what kind of pasta used) minutes to make.

A recent favorite is a spinach and lentil soup.
You need (for 4 servings):
-5dl of green lentils
-1,5l of water
-2 teaspoon of olive oil
-1 choped up onion
-2 choped up garlic clefts
-100g of sliced spinach
-1 teaspoon of crushed cumin
-1 teaspoon of torn citrus peeling
-1 dice of vegetabel broth

Wash the lentlis. Fry the onion, garlic and cumin in the oil for about two minutes. Put in the lentlis, crush the the broth and pour on the water. Let it boil under a lid between 20-30min*. Adjust the taste with salt, pepper and the torn citrus peeling. Lastly mix in the spinach.

*The time varies depending on whether you have had the lentils in water. You need to have them in water for about an hour to have the time reduced by ten minutes.

It takes a while until it's done but once you have but everything in in the pot you can go and do something else for 30min. I usually just make half of this (two servings) and just eat half of that and then I freeze the last serving for later. I allso serve it with some (not sure how to translate this)Crème fraiche. It contains pasteurized cream and some type of souring.

You can't go wrong if you put a little olive oil in a skillet, saute an onion, with some garlic, and just add whatever. It's just a dam shame that nobody can cook any more.

I'll second this. Nearly every recipe I've ever made starts like this. You can add some beans (maybe chickpeas / garbanzos) and spices for a vegetarian dish. You can add cut-up chicken and spices to make a stir-fry. Anything. If you add enough garlic and onion, you can probably just take randomly-selected items from your cupboard and it will taste good. Corn starch and chocolate chip cookies? Probably. Coffee filters and asparagus? I wouldn't doubt it.

Here's my recipe:

Onion, garlic (lots), and oil in a skillet.
Add a handful of basil and a small handful of oregano, cook it up.

In a pot, boil up a box of pasta (I prefer whole wheat or "plus" pasta), and two minutes before it's done, add some broccoli florets (fresh if you got 'em, but frozen will work).

Mix together, serve with unhealthy quantities of imported, grated peccorino romano cheese. (Make sure it's the kind of grated romano that you have to refrigerate, Locatelli is the best in the Northeast U.S.A. -- no "grated cheese product.")

Additionally, if you use a whole box of pasta, you'll have leftovers.
