I am currently in search of a quiet keyboard and a quiet mouse. There are some people who live with me that find my keyboard's and mouse's clicking noises are annoyingly loud. I am using a mechanical mouse and keyboard made by HP which came with my newest computer. Here is an image of something almost identical to what I have, but mine is wired:

Are there any recommendations for something that is quiet, but not too pricey? (I am currently looking into rubber keyboards but am not sure for mice.)

I don't think that would be my best choice. :)

Go to your local computer store, or business store. They generally have display models out that you can try out, and you can find one that you like.

Tell them to go screw themselves, and go purchase an IBM Model M keyboard.
Ah....good times. I loved that keyboard!

A touchscreen keyboard would be quiet. Alternatively you could type slowly and carefully.
I was thinking about that, but I wasn't sure because I usually have to "feel around" for my keys, and I didn't want the computer to register my "feeling" as actual typing. Plus, for the rubber keyboard, I would be able to have fun putting it in the dish washer. :mwaha: :p

I figured I would have to do that. Just wanted to see if there were any especially good brands.

About the rubber keyboard: My mom has one and whenever I tried to use her computer I always hated it because you had to push EXTREMELY hard. Then again, my hands arent really the best so it might be on account of that.

I'll keep that in mind. I guess I'll just have to try it out to see how bad the resistance is. How is it noise wise. the keyboard quiet, like no "clicking" noise?

This is the closest I could find for the sound of my keyboard:

Keyboards are pretty personal. What works well for one person doesn't necessarily work well for another person.

By all means, ask other people what they think of a keyboard. But if you've got ten people saying that Brand X Keyboard is the bestest best best keyboard ever, and when you try it out at the store you don't like it, don't get it. ;)

Sometimes in a store I think you can ask a salesperson to try them out. At least I recall doing that once.

Try a laptop-style keyboard too, they generally make less noise. Something like the Logitech illuminated.

Me on the other hand, i would prefer my keyboard to make some noise. I use the sound to determine if Im hitting the keys and if Im hitting them well enough that they respond. The tactile feedback is important too, but the sound definitely helps out.

I like the sound keyboards make as long as they don't clatter. I dont know why.
