R.E.D. WWII: Concepts & Suggestions

Hello Gedemon, I'm still playing a european scenario with the french, and I noticed some problems :
-When I have an unit stationed in a city which is attacked, the unit doesn't fall back, she's just killed :( , but the AI don't seem to have this problem.
-When the AI finish a project to upgrade their units (for example the bf109F), they don't upgrade any of these units , while this might be useful for them...
 
Gedemon: I've finished my game with the French and I noticed a couple more things.

1. The Foreign Legion can sometimes capture cities, though usually they can't. If they have the Blitz promotion, it seems they can capture on the second attack. I may be wrong but it also seemed as though they got a third attack after doing so. Not sure if they really are invisible in forest or not (hard to tell), but I do like those units.

2. The Soviets took Finland, with the exception of Inari, which is far in the north in Lapland and landlocked, but one convoy was still sent to Germany down the Baltic (though it didn't last long...;-)). Maybe this is as you intended, maybe not.

3. The embarkation from harbors thing is OK but a little odd at times. The embarkation option appears only if you choose 'move' when you are in the city with the harbor. It then seems allows any sea space in range....but in fact, if you try to move to any space too far away (but some spaces not adjacent to the city work in some places) it won't allow the embarkation it says is OK. Still fine overall if you expect this and only try to access adjacent sea squares.

4. Unlike Achille, I did see Germany upgrade to 109f's. I know sometimes those upgrades don't happen if the country doesn't have the materiel to support doing so yet.

5. I have also seen units destroyed when my city is taken, but sometimes they retreat. It makes a difference if there's a square to go to (though the AI just leaps to squares two away if needed, which my troops never do on retreat). I think this has been seen before.

Now I'm playing as Greece and it is a lot of fun. Really interesting (but slow) to watch the war be waged in my absence and Greece does seem balanced with the overall war. There is something a bit odd with the Diplomacy. I had defensive alliances with UK and and France. They declared war on Germany and Italy (and I know that doesn't put me at war), but for quite a while, Albania was angry saying I was at wear with an ally, (Italy) but both Germany and Italy were 'friendly' with me on all the other diplomacy screens and my units were not at war with theirs. It fixed itself in time when they declared war on me. I think this is an old problem. I get the impression you might have wanted Italy to really be at war with me earlier, forcing history the way you did with Germany versus France, but this way is quite interesting and lets Greece build up a bit more, though it's a bit 'unrealistic'.

I wonder if Greece ever got convoys via Suez as part of its support from the UK? If so, maybe that could be enabled once we are allied or something (I'm not yet, so maybe it will be...). BTW, I like the idea I can build Spit 1's, but not, seemingly, more advanced models, and destroyers, but not battleships. Makes sense.

The Greek experience really makes me think playing other countries would be fun. Poland (brief, inevitably) would be an interesting short scenario challenge. Perhaps you could have the option of switching to other small countries if yours is destroyed? Finland? Norway?.
 
Try a different browser, or different computer altogether. then use a flash drive to copy the file(s) ?

Yep Special forces are still a W.I.P., but I like them too. As someone played a hotseat game with France vs Germany or Italy to see if the invisible part is working (you'll always see it when on adjacent tiles)

Germany get convoy from Sweden in the Baltic too.

Yep, fixing the UI to reflect the correct embarking plot may take some times (or not, I haven't looked at it yet, but I'm aware of the problem)

Yes, a nation must have enough materiel (after reinforcements are applied) to support upgrades, based on the upgrade cost in hammer.

Yes, this bug (or random impossible retreat feature :D ) is in the todo.

ATM nation are free to declare war before the real date (and are forced to do so at the real date), and as Greece seems an easy target for the AI, it has a tendency to anticipate it... I'll add a "always force real date" option in the future.

No convoy coded for Greece ATM, but I'll add some.

Here are the requirement for new nations :
- Units models (see Danrell's threads in the forum unit section for the available ones)
- material to make good DoM and diplo screen (including at least 8-9 WW2 poster related to that nation)
- mp3 speech of the leader
- introduction texts like for the other nation in the mod

I'll be happy to add some ;)

It's still not working for me...

I've tested the link with Chrome, IE9, Firefox 11 from France and also using a VPN from Virginia (USA) and Hong Kong without problems... What is your country/ISP, and what are the mods you've already downloaded from mediafire if any ? Are their links still working for you ?

I won't have time to manage multiple mirrors, but it will be nice if anyone can take the time to upload the data file to another file hosting service, and I'll put the mirror link in the mod entry in CFC database.

*After a few hours of reading online I figured out that you can have hotseat with the European map only, I was trying to do it with the World Map so I could play as Germany, Itally and Japan.

I looked but I couldn't seem to find out how to setup multiplayer hotseat. Is there some kind of trick to get it to work? Any advice would be appreciated, thank you for your time.

P.S. - This is a great modification, I bought a couple relatives Civ5 just so they could play this!

Yes, the hotseat is only made for the european map ATM, conversion of the others is planned.

Can you describe precisely how you've installed the mod, then post your lua log please.

I installed as installation order, dl 2 mod files put them in mod folder go to ingame mod > install > activated 2 mods > play > custom game > picked germany and saw UK and all others nation have old leaders :( aswell when i start play I see all citys on map but not teritory(i tought that is that way)


aswell I cant produce anything in citys :S
 
Are you sure your game is updated to the latest patch ?
 
You need at least v1.0.1.511, the core file of the mod will break with previous version (some needed functions are missing)

I played with germany and I am in - or around 0 on material used to reinforce troops -514 how i can put that in + ??
 
that's the mod main balance, don't attack too much from the start, try to keep your units at max health, don't use tanks when infantries can do the job, don't produce only medium/heavy tanks, etc...

Factories will raise your reinforcement production and make sure your convoy are not intercepted if you'r playing the Europe scenario.

Once you've started to go too much in negative values, it will take times to reinforce your troops and regain balance.
