Random letter spam -- what's the point?

Recently on my site I cleared out 5 spam comments with such meaningful, articulate messages like "mwnvzzqxuuxgtmpjc" and "sex jwfjfkfer5o45f."

OK ... so what is the point? Do spammers really think someone will click on a link with that description? I'm inclined to think that its a way to circumvent spam-filters but still? Any ideas?

There maybe a problem with bots. there may be e-mails linked to their names or spamsite homepages.

Sometimes spam gets send in an attempt to screw up the spam filters' classification algorithms.
