Ever hear of malaria and West Nile virus?Pigeons are far more problematic than mosquitos, imo. Unless you live near a swamp ^_^
No wonder Greece has a financial crisis. Even the under-appreciated artists have three balconies!
1. One pigeon wouldn't be so bad. But there are a lot of them here. They're noisy, and scare the cat.Why do so many people dislike pigeons? Sure they crap but so does everybody else. They look cool and even tastes good. The meat is lean and not too gamey. I've never met a pigeon I didn't like.
Some of the old rural country houses in the Canadian Province of Prince Edward Island have multiple balconies, gables, and more doors than fire regulations demand. Quite a few are very notably elaborate. What's the deal with Southern Europe and numeral small balconies? Up here you either make single balcony (or grammatically correct equivalent) big enough for a solid bbq session, or you don't make one at all.
There are balconies that are practical and meant to be used, and there are balconies that are just for decoration. The residents here seem to use them either for barbecuing or as an outdoor storage room (we're allowed to put bikes there). What's the deal with Southern Europe and numeral small balconies? Still more useful than some of the decorative "balconies" i've seen. They are literally a door in the outer wall with a railing bolted to the front.Well, calling those 'balconies' is really misleading. But pigeons don't care. They make a mess still.
For the record, two of the three 'balconies' are something like 1x2 metres^2, or smaller (actually one of them is more like 1x1,5). The third one is something like 1x4.
I once had pigeons nest on my balcony. Brought up two chicks, iirc.Buildings in the north usually don't have balconies. Pigeons are a terrible bane if you have a balcony. I sadly have three (very small, but still).![]()
Your cat should be ashamed of itself. They're noisy, and scare the cat.
I feel your pain.My allergies hate this time of year.
Why? She's been an indoor cat for most of her life, and has never had to hunt for her food. You can't blame a cat for being afraid of birds she's never seen, particularly when half a dozen of them start diving down very close to the window, flapping and making noise.Your cat should be ashamed of itself.![]()
Pigeons are underappreciated birds. I remember as a kid watching Sesame Street (the REAL Sesame Street from the '80's, before Elmo all but took over the show) where Bert was waxing poetic about the pigeons outside the window, even if Ernie didn't initially buy it and had to be brought around to realizing the beauty of this example of common urban wildlife.I once had pigeons nest on my balcony. Brought up two chicks, iirc.

What are they good for? All they do around here is make noise and organic waste.Pigeons are underappreciated birds.
Their nests are protected by law, so if you have a planter on your balcony and a Canada Goose decides to nest there, it's illegal for you to destroy or even move the nest. You just have to put up with it, and not use your balcony until the chicks are hatched and able to leave on their own.Strangely, in my neighbourhood near downtown Edmonton, Canada, about five big honking Canada Geese moved in to several empty lots when returning from their migration south. I've never seen them around here in those numbers and for this long (over a month or two now) before.
Eagle Food, Fox food, around here at least...What are they good for? All they do around here is make noise and organic waste.
