Passed US 20th-21st C Lit course with honours, which in Spain means I got one of the top 2 or 3 grades in the class, and it was at least a 9/10. :D

My first in-person appointment at this medical program went well.

I also found out entry in this program helps with the disability process, which is good. All the stories I hear are of people applying for disability and getting denied several times over the course of a decade. I would not mind applying once and getting it.

Apparently, I'm now Seriously Likeable. I'd like to thank my family, my friends, my ISP... :D

Finally got 2 things off my to do list that were on it for 1.5 years too long. All I had to do was find some documents and email some people. No idea why I was avoiding it, but I know that I was... Feels really good to get those 2 things out of the way, even though they aren't really that important in the grand scheme of things. Feels like a large weight has been lifted off my shoulders and I don't even understand why, but whatever, I'm going with this

Woo, I'm on a spree! Passed Modernist and Postmodernist Narrative in English with honours too. :D

That is half my subjects for the semester. Hopefully I can keep up in the coming one. :V

There was mercy at least -

My grandmother's passing was swift and as pain-free as possible. She was surrounded by family and it was peaceful. I still can't believe it all happened. She went from relatively healthy to dead in the space of a week and honestly, if I had to choose a way to go out that'd be pretty close to ideal. I think about her daily but I focus on the good memories as much as I can.

TIP: If you see someone in very bad physical condition in a hospital and it emotionally bothers you, immediately look through old photo albums. I can't remember what my grandmother looked like in the ICU because I only see her face from old photos when I think about it.

The trip back went much more smoothly than the trip out. No major car, weather or police issues. Driving through New Mexico and Arizona and seeing white snow-capped red mesas is something I'll never forget.

We took our dogs with us because the older one needed surgery. The day before I got the initial call about my grandmother's health, we found out our older dog had bladder stones. She was asymptomatic but it would have quickly escalated into a life-threatening crisis for her. She's otherwise healthy, happy and loved but we did not have the $3,000 the vets here wanted to perform the simple operation.

So we dropped her off at our old vet in Rolla, MO on our way to St. Louis and picked her up on the way back. Cost: $200.

Congrats, Joan! :)

When you're good you're good, but when you're bad you're better, Perf.

Rave: I think I'll declare Evan Birnholz my honorary mortal enemy.

Queen Elizabeth II celebrates her sapphire anniversary today, the British monarch to ever do so. In just eight months, she will exceed the Byzantine emperor Basil II's regnal duration and, in 13 months, that of his brother Constantine VIII. On Wikipedia's list of the 200 longest reigning monarchs in history, the Queen is the longest surviving monarch and in fact appears not once but three times (the other two in her capacity as Queen of Jamaica and of Barbados).
