I would like to announce a monumental life milestone

I have ordered new bedsheets and a new duvet!! (Even though they were not in the same set)

Finally this project will be complete! After many years of confusion the stars have finally aligned and I have put in my order. If amazon is to be believed, by Friday I will be sleeping under completely new digs.

I might also need a duvet cover. The duvet I ordered is white, that's the only one that had free shipping. The grey one that I would have bought instead was charging $58 for shipping.... So I bought the white one. People in the reviews were saying that you don't need a cover, but I very well might.. We'll see when the packages arrive and I try all this out

What about your pillow and mattress? If you've taken so long to acquire the linens they might have decayed by now.

My pillow is fine, it's a memory foam one I bought a couple years ago. My mattress should be good, I looked at it a couple months ago and I didn't see anything wrong with it. It's got a memory foam thing overtop that's probably fine as well, and a cover thing that might actually need replacing, I'm not sure.

What's the usual mattress decay rate?

Is the mattress just a wad of foam wrapped in cloth, or is it one of those with springs and so on?

I have no idea what's inside my mattress, but I paid just under a grand for it about 8 years ago, from what I remember, so there's better be some complicated stuff in there keeping me comfortable.

I have heard that 8 years is a decent time to switch, but heed yourself only when it comes to tyour own comfort.

Hmm I am going to smell it when I'm installing the new bedsheets, just in case. If it smells or looks weird in any way I'll do some research about mattress replacement cycles

To avoid such a need in the future, just place a towel under the bedsheets. Every now and then put the towel through a full cycle in the washing-machine.

under my memory foam you mean? The layers go like this from bottom to top: mattress, memory foam, mattress cover thingy, fitting sheet

Put the towel as the very first thing on your mattress. It helps especially when you do the nasty and/or fart.

I bought one some years back. I was skeptical that 5x the cost of a normal foam pillow would yield 5x the value. But it has! Might go for a memory foam mattress next time mattress needs replacing (though 5x cost of mattress a lot more shekels than 5x the cost of a pillow).

I was so amazed at my memory foam pillow that when I saw a memory foam "thingy" you can sleep on at Costco, I bought it right away. It was a LOT cheaper than a full on mattress, and you just put on top of your mattress, and.. there you go. Lie down on it and sleep ! After putting down bedsheets of course.

I forget how much it cost but it was maybe $60 $80? $100? $120? Very reasonable. I highly recommend this sleeping arrangement. A full on memory foam mattress would be better, but this is way cheaper and it works very well

She didn't ask whether I had considered, but if I am considering. Nuance, there. It's something I have considered as my preferred career path, but right now I want to do a film studies masters, and if I do so maybe I don't really want to continue down that other path I thought of.
