After almost 11 months of procrastinating, I finally got my learner's driving licence this afternoon. And, I'm going to see Coldplay tonight.

Like, a permit? You still have to ride around with an adult but you can get behind the wheel and practice driving?

The past three days of my week have been stormy, but today I ended up feeling great! I'm also tearing through quizbowl questions at an unprecedented pace.

Math Club is joining the Knowledge Bowl, which is our version of the Quiz Bowl. Yay! I'm going to have fun failing hard at trivia.

So yesterday after work I went to the library, because whenever my fiancee goes with the kids she nannies she gives me a ride home. Well, I found a book on the Crimean War and for some reason the 4 year old boy she watches took an interest in it (there was a painting of soldier fighting on the cover) - so I spent the entire car ride home explaining it to him in terms he would understand. I couldn't go into detail not only because he is 4 but because I don't really know much about the subject matter myself, but I gave an overview of the situation.

Of course, then when his mother got home (so I was told) he told her all about it, and apparently she was somewhat displeased because she doesn't really like him talking about war and violence and all that. Hopefully she doesn't hate me now. And in my defense, I told him that I thought the war was a bad thing.

Still, all told, quite an amusing experience.

A friend of mine will be spending the next two years in Rostov-na-donu, Russia. I think that's awesome. :)

My friends are coming to visit. Slumber party!

Cool! My fiancee's roommate served in Vladivostok.

. . . unless he is there for some other reason . . .

Haha. I've heard stories of ex-KGB agents that spied on missionaries and ended up getting baptized. Mormon myth? Possibly. That's what your post reminded me of though. :)
