The same as it is everywhere else in the US, but you have to remember that it doesn't really stop anybody who tries from drinking, especially in the middle of a huge spring break festival thing with thousands of people.

What do you think is more important? Voting or drinking? I believe the whole thing came from a concession that if the voting age was dropped to 18, the drinking age should be raised to 21 for some reason. If it was still 18 they'd probably make it 19 anyway like cigarettes are in most places.

Quick question: How does the ongoing drug wars in Mexico affect your Spring Break?

Not really that much as long as you stick to certain areas, I guess.

I was just in Quintana Roo state last week. Since it is heavily populated by tourists Im sure it gets a disproportionate amount of money allotted to it. Walking down the street you would often see at least a couple of police trucks with heavily armed soldiers in the back. It works good as a show of force, but I dont know how effective they really are. Along the highways they have police checkpoints where you dont have to stop, just slow down when going over the speed bumps. Apparently if you drive too fast through there you get fired upon, but luckily this did not happen to me.

Other than that things seemed pretty normal there, I cant really comment on the more interior parts of the country.

No one from my area went anywhere so I can't say.

Tijuana has had a crap load of incidents, I dont know how the tourism industry is going there but I wouldn't be surprised if its taken a nosedive.

It's mainly attractive for the people who are living near the border anyway. I saw it on TV and I thought that this mass hystery could be easily avoided if the US would finally lower the drinking age like most of the outer world does it already, that is by the age of 18.

Perhaps. I turned 21 two days after I got back, so the drinking age definetly influenced my decision of where to go.

It wouldn't be 18, it'd be 19, they'd rationalize it how they're rationalizing having the tobacco age being 19 now, that seniors in high school are buying it for younger kids. Of course such will happen no matter what the age is, and kids get booze and cigarettes no matter how old they are, so it's all pretty pointless, just get rid of age restriction on anything.

Now you're talking my language!
IMO, those restrictions are always pointless and they just encourage people to break the law on behalf of some other people. Same thing with marijuana dealers as well, but that's another story.
