I know most here probably hate rap. I used to too. Most rap is indeed, crap. However, I think the same can be said for rock. That said, there are certain rap songs that I would say are honestly great. The following one in particular is more truthful then any cheesy rock song I've ever heard (especially the ones that try too hard to sound deep)

Damn it feels good to be a gangster- Ghetto Boyz

For pete's sake listen to that song before you judge rap!

So am I correct in assuming everyone here hates rap? why?

There is some rap I like. Not much, but some.

That's true of any music genre for me, to.

Yep, the song from office space... I love it! Like I said, more true to life (especially select parts) then any rock song I've heard.

You're quote is from that song as well.

I once heard a really good rap song on Chapelle's Show by Black Star, I forget the name of the song.

Yep, my sig is just one of the many oh-so-true statements in that song. Much better then most all lyrics in rock songs I hear. Although I will admit the instrumentals in rock is MUCH better!

Many just dismiss rap as garbage and meanwhile absorb every generic rock song as if it is genius, when many sound a lot like this, but in different words:

I hate my life
I'm mad

huh? Hip-Hop/R&B is all over the world. To say many dismiss it is a grave over statement. The selling of 3million records world wide can and should not be labeled as garbage. Hip-Hop sells more records per year than Rock and Jazz combined. Just because you and those around you don't like, don't assume that the other 2billion people don't either.

many songs also go something like this:

you can hate me now!
but you can't stop me now!

Those lyrics fit this thread perfectly,

Popularity is rarely proportional to quality.

I've yet to hear a good rap or R&B song, and I've heard a large number of headache-inducingly terrible ones. As such, I've little fondness for the genre.

i gotta say, back in the days when i was a kid,in the 90s,and mtv had nothing on but guys with fluffy farrah fawcet hair and lipstick, wearing spandex,i hated all that stuff and liked hip hop as well as good decent rock, like tom petty and punk rock

now that its hip hop theyre shoving down peoples throat,i find myself hating it more and more

i just hope the pop/boyband version of punk like that one band called good charlotte dosent become the big thing in the coming years or i might have to start hating punk rock too!

You are vastly wrong in assuming anything.

I for one, deem that every music form has it's worth.

I just don't get it. Why do rappers and hip hoppers keept trying to convert other people? I, for one, HATE rap and hip hop. But I'm not even remotely trying to convert people to rock and metal. Not because I think I wouldn't succeed, but because I think that everyone has the right to listen to whatever they want to.

Giotto, I did you the favour of dl'ing the song you recommended, and stopped listening to it after about a minute. It was horrible. I hate this kind of stuff! Just accept it! Live with it!

The older Wutang-Clan albums and some of the Cypress Hill albums are quite good. But most other things are crap. I really don't know why people listen to Eminem, but I even understand less why people listen to RKelly and the like. Eminem somehow opposes Britney, while being the same thing. Why are people buying this?

Why do people flock towards anything?

Because the flickering idiot box tells them to do so.

Combine that with most sheeple's need for group acceptance, and you have the magic media control!

That oughta be good news - we've got it on pretty good authority that if Satan's realm is divided against itself, it cannot last.

:p

I dispise all rap, I feel the people who create them just load a bunch of crap into their song, and don't deserve the popularity that they often get.

Office Space has a great rap soundtrack.

That song and the one where he raps about a gangster becoming President.

Although, you listen to Get Low 10 times in one afternoon and try to sleep that night. ****ing friends.
