OK, boys and girls, the good news first. We are still alive and kicking (sort of) and our main territory is still ours. We are at peace with everyone, too and we made it into the industrial age.
Bad news are we are awfully behind in technology and infra-structure is quite pitiful.

So what was going on on my turns:
Pre-turn
abandon Seleucia after selling all buildings (we have no units inside and a X tank outside)
jiggle sliders around and hire some entertainers to get from -75 down to -25gpt
kill all Roman units on our land apart from 1 MDI, kill 1 X cav, no losses
enter

IT
Otto and persia alliance against Babylon

1. 1330 AD
kill last roman on our territory
make peace for banking
buy physics from Babylon
X refuses to talk
our happyness situation is awful, we are up to 50% lux

IT
China and Persia alliance against Babs

WW is killing us and X tries to bomb us into the stone age (quite successfully :( )

1350 AD
at last, manage to make peace with X, have to give him Tromso, which is not much good to us anyway,
this was cheap, we just would have died from the bombing and WW

1355 AD
America and China alliance against Babylon

1370 AD
buy ToG from China
Babylon must have lost all its habours as we get our incense back from them early
Sell it to Xerxes + most of our gpt for magnetism, we are now in the industrious ages.


I believe we should now concentrate on infra and try to buy our way up the tech tree. Be nice to everybody and their dog.
Maybe we survive to manage a diplo win still???

well we make very little money, we need steam though
MM a bit, we make 18gpt, not enough by far

at turn 5 we have 46gpt due to 2 banks
but Persia starts UN, I don't know how to stop them

turn 10
our income is at 54gpt and we have 394g
once the deals are up we should look into possible trading

and just wait for the UN to finish and let this game rest in peace after that :cry:
 
Sure, we are not doing too well and unlikely to win.
But on the bright side we are all players without diety win (or so I understand). And we are still alive!!! That is maybe some achievement in itsself?
 
We need communism asap. We can stop researching since we'll never catch up by self research. Build the infrastructure and prepare to steal. Thanks for cleaning up my mess guys. :goodjob:

highlights

1425 ibt: China DoW Persia

1435 ibt: world war breaks out and Babylon is destroyed. We avoid offered MA's

1440 ibt: Persia completes Manhattan Project.

1445 ibt: Another round of wars break out

1450 ibt: Persia builds UN - no vote called

1455 ibt: Even more wars break out.

The remainder of the turns were unremarkable. A gpt deal must have just ended as we jumped from 50gpt to 170gpt. But our rep's bad, so we can't buy any techs.
Persia is at war with everyone but us, so it's doubtful if they'll ever call a vote. Expect we'll have to wait for a spaceship to launch.

Just got an idea, would it be possible if we ally with everyone against Persia, take UN, time it where there will be a vote within the next few turns (next turn would be nice) and we may have a chance at winning this still. Any thoughts?

sounds like a great idea, this is our only chance. the vote is every 20 turns, right? so when is the next vote, we take city and keep it just for that one turn to vote
 
I just went back and read XTeam's SGOTM2. A vote wansn't held in turn 293. They captured the city in turn 302 and a vote was held in turn 303 and they won. Here's a link to the relevant page http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=88124&page=33&pp=20

There's also an article in the war academy on how to invade another continent with rails, using a diversionary force and an invasion force. Luckily the UN is in Parsagarde which is coastal. We could use our Zerks to captue it that turn and then unload a ton of units in it and hope it doesn't flip. I'd get a new copy of WM and put the diversionary force on some unroaded mountains if possible (they may all be roaded by this time :( ) the turn before the invasion.

From the picture you can also see that there are razed cities on the China/Persia boarder in the north and some off to the east off the picture, this could be a good disraction

The bad news:
Persia is in the modern ages, with a lot of airports and as we witnessed before a lot of planes. They also have rails so they will be able to respond.

The realy bad news:
Our best offensive unit has 6 attack (Berserks or Cav), we should assume for the worst and Persia that has computers.

If they don't have rubber then they have rifles in the city, our units have a 10%-15% of winning depending on if we are using fast or slow units.

We know they had oil (they had planes) therefore if they have rubber then they have mechInfs, and our winning % goes to <1%.

Questions to anyone who has fought Persia during this game:
How many units should we expect in the city?
How big will their counter attack be?
How many :spear: can we get?

Not sure if we can pull it off. But it won't hurt to try. At least This way we go with a bang, not a wimper ;)
Maybe we can wait until we have caught up to infantry?

Preturn 1475 AD:
Took AK advice investigated Pasargadae, 4 towInf, 1 MechInf, building 1 MechInf, 1 fighter, 4 artilery, fully railroaded, Persia has 1 Uramium, 2 Rubbers, 1 Oil & 1 Iron (No coal), producing 39culture/turn, 4000 total culture, has Forbidden Palace.

Switch/Rush 6 Galleons on coastal cities, based on our military, will put 4 Cannons, 4 muskets, 16 cav on those boats, because of the time of the next election the boats can't make it in time so we have to aim for the next one in 15 turns.

Realize we don't have Nav, but find another spot to launch from outside of Persia

Turn 1 1480AD:
Farsund deposes, had 3 pikes and a cav in there
See that no one renewed deal with China :nono: , renew lux deal with them getting a new lux for free (two lux for the price of 1)

IBT:
Persia is building SETI
China razes a large Persian city

Turn 5 1500AD:

Making a lot more money now, rushed a lot of improvements during my turnset, hope the army is enough
Not sure when the vote will be based on rrau turnlog, maybe rrau can inform us before AK takes his turn
 
I think these are not enough units, really. double it and we should be better off. since we just missed the election, we can wait another 18 turns or so. we better keep track. how do you know there was election? there was an actual vote?
how do we make sure we win this election?
our rep is trashed, that does not make it easier. we should make fine with all of them, not an easy feat.
 
Persia built UN in the ibt between 1450 and 1455 (between my 5th and 6th turns)
 
So we should capture it on the 5th turn.

The more I look at I think Rat is right about how small our attack force is, unfortantly for us that is half of our units :sad:

If were to add more I would say add muskets and cannons

Persia has been able to out last the worlds attacks (they rebuilt the city they lost).

As for the vote, China is polite, America is annoyed but with some gifts can turn polite but then again won't be around that long. The rest are at war with the world and won't vote for us yet.

I believe that Rome will be the other civ in the vote. If we make alliances with everyone against Persia then we have a better chance people will vote for us.
 
Persia has MIs?
Well, I doubt our cavs will even scratch them. We need artillery, as many as possible.
And we have to somehow time it that we capture only 1 turn before the vote. We never can hold Pasargardae against Persia for more then 1-2 turns.
If we want to make sure that the other AIs vote for us we can always make MA with them against the biggest guy (who will be the other candidate).
