I just found out I was indentured to you without getting a head's up. :p I'll do my best - I want the unit as badly as you do.

I know you want to see it in action as well. Thank-you in advance for anything you can do to make the ratha a reality :).

As this is going nowhere, I'm pulling out of this project.

If worst comes to worst (i.e. no-one else takes it up) I could try animating, rendering and all the post-production stuff once I get time. Though it's increasingly hard to say when that will be :undecide:

You'd better, otherwise this goes down the drain.

This wasn't your project to begin with. If you want to pull an April Fools joke go do it in your own thread. If you're serious, just stop posting.

Some people have no sense of humour whatsoever…

I know, maybe I overdid it with the avatar change.

@Takhisis: You have done amazing work on your Ratha since you started back in Jan 2010! You took up BM's unit request, and you have great modeling talent. BM has done a great job with pics and info. Let's finish your project up Takhisis that you have been working on for so long. If you wish, send me the files, and I can animate and texture it (I don't model much, so I don't have much strength in that area as you do). Then I can send back the FLC's / BMP's to you; and various versions can be made as BM pointed out some pages back.

CFCers are (im)patiently :) awaiting all the excellent modeling work that has been done by you.

Having worked with 3 different modellers since 2008 sometimes has been discouraging. Takhisis definitely deserves community-wide recognition for his perseverance in spite of the times when I've been nit-picky. It's good to see the complimentary skills to Takhisis' volunteered. A comparison with the images below will show the high quality of his work without taking anything away from Michaelus & Quinzy.

There has been discussion in several points about using some version of the arya symbol - mirrored so that it looks like wings. Possibly in civ color?

The arya symbol was also meant to be included. you can see how he made the body with a basic wood look. The two wheeled version could be done the same way. Only the “special” would need to be fancy.

Other than that I've got no special requests to make concerning textures. The same goes for animating the charioteer & archer*. You're the experienced one in those realms. It's a pretty long thread. Let me know if you want any of the descriptions or images buried in the pile of posts tracked down. Maybe there is something there that might be of use you.

Too bad the other models aren't available. Then you'd have a plethora of choices. We all look forward to seeing what a talented modeler and a talented animator/artist can do when they team up. I know of at least two people who have made specific inquiries about when Takhisis' model will be put to use.

If WIPs are posted anyone who will use the unit feel free to post comments & suggestions.

:coffee:

* With the exceptions of three things for a "special" version if one is done. Blue skinned charioteer, victory animation including blowing a conch, and an animation with the archer throwing down his bow. I'd use that for a fortify - kept him out of the fight in the Mahabharata. Getting a ratha available for everyone is far more important. I'd sacrifice all that - plus the arya wings - if it helps get one done.

I'm not good at texturing, I can only do a few basic colours. However, I can produce different models of the ratha (such as a two-wheeled one for the 'light' version) if/when needed. :)

I understood that tom2050 volunteered to do the texturing. The limiting skill for me is unwrapping such a model. I haven't created textures for a C3 unit, but have done so elsewhere. If I can help let me know.

Rob (RX8FT) and Shirou may have useful suggestions about civ-color placement and animations. They're ideas are well worth considering. Their use of the ratha will be more immediate and a lot more high-profile than any scenario made by me.

EDIT: Takhisis - if you want to undertake another version that would be great. As offered to tom2050 ask if you want any descriptions, etc. dug out of the thread or otherwise tracked down.

Well I never received anything. The dispute about who's project this 'belongs to' or who 'owns it' is somewhat silly, hopefully that can be overcome to let other people help to finish it SINCE help is wanted (as it obviously is according to the first post, sounded like a collaboration was wanted if it was needed).

Anyways, I can only wait so long. Hopefully someone else comes along one day to help you guys out.

People really don't pay attention to the Comings and Goings thread, eh? I've been off the forums for a while now. Just back. Uni's far more important than modding.

I think the unit progress would be better served in pms since there is so little of it anyway.
And i know Takhisis is doing all the work, so it is his unit :)

And you know there are no PMs how?

No one has denied the current model is Takhisis' wip. The project as a whole, otoh, ... ;)
