RawSasquatch/Kramer's New Civilizations

Glad that you've finally got around to collecting all of your ideas in the OP, they're all really intriguing and I hope they'll be fun to play with whenever they get released.

Vermont seems really cool - especially the whole maple mechanic.

Biafra yes! I've been waiting for it ever since you first made What a Time it Was since Biafra is essentially the African equivalent of supreme rebels, so I'm excited, although are you sure that you want to keep Seattle as a leader since Colonialist Legacies will use Seattle for thier Lushotoseed mod.

Yeah, but I plan to include an alternate leader in the files along the same lines as Muir in California. Say, Osborne Russell, perhaps.

The wording on the Vermont UA is quite confusing: it can be, or it will be?

It can be: there will be a little pop-up that gives you the choice. Then the player has to decide if they want the luxury more, or the strong Production + Culture yields of the bonus resource.

Also, I think I might have some solid final designs for the Bhutanese Decisions now:

Commission Thongdrels
Once a year, every Dzong hosts a Tshechu festival, and on the final day of the festival, if one is available, a Thongdrel is unfurled, an enormous Thangka that depicts Padmasambhava, the great scholar. The mere viewing of one is said to cleanse sin. We should commission more, so as to further spread enlightenment.

Requirements: Player must be Bhutan, Player must have built an Artists' Guild, May only be enacted once per game.

Costs: 1 Magistrate, 500 :c5gold: Gold, 100 :c5faith: Faith, 50 :c5culture: Culture

Rewards: The city in which the Artists' Guild is housed exerts greater Religious Pressure, and each Dzong worked by that city provides 1 :c5greatperson: Great Artist Point.

Measure Gross National Happiness
Western nations base their economic value and decisions too heavily upon the materialistic Gross Domestic Product system, a system that is not in line with Bhutanese cultural and religious tenets. The wealth of a nation can only truly be measured by how happy its people are and how well modernity is balanced with tradition. We must appoint a committee to measure and improve our Gross National Happiness.

Requirements: Player must be Bhutan, Player must be in the Modern Era, may only be enacted once per game.

Costs: 2 Magistrates, 1000 :c5gold: Gold

Rewards: A :c5goldenage: Golden Age begins. +1 :c5happy: Happiness and +5% :c5culture: Culture from Hospitals, Research Labs, and Medical Labs.

Have you tried reversing Bhutan's colour scheme? IMO that would make it more unique, better looking and more similar to their flag (by having the dragon as a lighter colour).

Hmmm... A golden age and happiness? A bit of an overkill, for a civ focused on getting happiness.
Also, I hoped that you won't involve the artists guild... :(

(Also: why alt leaders≠alt UA? I know its a lot of work, but its kinda weird to have the picture change, and nothing else. :p)

Well, it's only available starting in the Modern Era, so it's just a way to secure your happiness in a period when Ideology pressure is the only real threat.

And the alt leader without an alt UA is, because in both Cascadia and California's cases, the UA is based more upon the civ itself, instead of the leader. The Cascadian UA is based upon the modern Bioregion movement, but there are no suitable modern leaders for the civ. And also because yes, it's a lot of work.

Bah, with so much artist points, it shouldn't be. That's part of the reason I said it was overkill.

Eh I disagree, I don't think the Bhutan decisions are too powerful, given that Dzongs are pretty much only going to be built on limited tiles anyway. This in addition to the fact that the additional effects of the GNH decision apply only to late game buildings, I think it should be fine.

I think this looks fine as it is! Besides, the reverse is Polynesia.

I used the word "overkill" wrong, apparently... I didn't say they were too powerful, I said that they give too much happiness, to the point its unnecessary...

(Unless you go aesthetics, which could be quite interesting and unique, combined with this decisions)

Bhutan is thundering along rapidly! Expect a release sometime this weekend, probably. To help the hype, here's a sneak preview of the Dzong in-game:

And if you guys want to help me, I've got to decide on the final version of Jigme's leaderhead. I moved the background a bit, and I think in Version 2, the flags leading up to the foreground really helps tie the scene together, at the expense of Jigme's body obscuring the actual monastery in the background.

Version 1. Version 2. Any thoughts or preferences?

I'd prefer the first one as well, for what's it's worth ;)

Looking forward to the release!

By the way, if Dzong doesn't show up as having +2 Faith and +2 Culture when adjacent to a Mountain on the Worker Icon thingy, that's due to something in the code that causes that to happen. It still works as intended.

Will that mess up EUI? Because a lot of things seem too, recently...
Things that work exactly like that.

I actually like version two more. Not that you'd care, now. :p
