I have been playing Civ 4 Warlords 2.08 patch installed. I have been playing Brennus and in a late game I noticed my neighbor Frederick just built the Space Elevator. I put a Stack together attacked the city and then razed it. It occurred to me afterwords that if I kept the city I might have been able to use the Space Elevator to my own advantage. I also remember seeing posts about how wonders can be captured but the effects are nullified once a city has been captured. Is this true here? Thanks in advance for the replies....

I don't play warlords, so take that into account if it matters.

Almost all world wonders (as opposed to national wonders) work equally well for someone who captures it as it did for the person who built it. The only exceptions are wonders that provide a one-time benefit (such as Oracle or Taj Majal). Hanging gardens provides the continuing +1 health benefit, but not the one-time increase of population of 1 in all your cities.

Even wonders that are obsolete or give one-time effect should also give you great person points in your newly captured city (though this was not true for obsolete wonders in some earlier patches).

So, yes, space elevator would have worked just fine for you (had you been planing on buiding some spaceship parts), and would have give you great person points in that city.

If it will impare a super power nation so in hopes to gain a slight boost in military, or to cause economic damage , it is vital.
