RBC15f - Ottomans - OPEN - Emperor

Especially when the one city is/was their capitol.

PreTurn: lux to 20% - no riots necessary; adjust some cities

IBT: Salzburg is attacked, we have to hurry to get it; we lose a Sipahi

Mar. 1807AD: we take out the 2 defenders Spain left at Salzburg and take it; advance on Budapest and Sibiu; Odessa taken (only 3 defenders); we could buy military logistics from France for 169gpt, but it think we could better to wait

IBT: Austria and Netherlands sign peace; Austria an Britain sign peace; Naples and Austria sign peace; Portugal and Austria sign peace; Austria and Spain sign peace; military logistics is passed around

May 1807AD: buy military logistics for 80gpt from Britain; sell it to Spain for map, 24gpt and 30gold Belgrade to MA in 11; further advance troops; short-rush Janissaries with ship of the line and sekhans

IBT: Portugal asks for MPP - no; Danes demand(!) nationalism for peace - no; Sweden and Spain sign peace; Sweden and Spain ally vs Britain; Sweden and France ally vs Austria; trade embargo from Sweden and Austria vs us ends; Denmark and France sign MA vs. Russia

Jul. 1807AD: attacking Budapest - still many defenders left; bombard Sibiu and take it; have some bad artillery attacks on Russian front, so dont attack this turn; join native workers to cities

IBT: Austria and France sign peace; war weariness rises

Sep. 1807AD: lux to 30%; Kriyvyyh taken - we now lead in cities with "Y"; Budapest taken

Nov. 1807AD: sell artilley tactics to Naples for map, 20gpt and 50gold

Austria is done, you can take the remaining cities fast - even with less artillery support. Concentrate forces on Russia - besides they Jaeger their are weak too. Game is won, but our goal to reach domination still is a challenge.

Good luck! Remeber to play 1 year - 6 turns from now on ;)

Deep breath - no f'in confidence. Played before I posted to make sure I could keep up. Stealth turns. Screwed up lots - had riots in cities. Played only 5 cause I got nervous. Rare air up here. Feel free to disregard these if I've f'up big.

IBT Prussia & Austria sign peace.

01/08 - Take Kosice. Upgrade cannon at Vienna. Elite Sipahi wins N of Vienna, doesn't promote. Siph attack Dnep. win. Lose Siph. NW Of kriyvyy. Play wack a fool near Vienna.

IBT - lose Siph near Vienna.

3/08 - Army at Tornapol wins

5/08 - Skirmishing at Vienna. General Ed. to Swedes for medicine + WM. switch Istanbul to TT.

IBT - Naples + Swedes sign peace. Swedes + Brits sign peace. ? + Swedes sign peace (think Prussians but can't read own writing) Discover new saltpeter.

7/08 - RNG hates me. Crakow holds. Take Kharkov.

IBT - GA ends.

9/08 - Prague falls.

I had too many riots due to stupidity. They should be under control unless I'm dumber than dogsh*t. If I am dumber than dogsh*t, just delete these turns. :) Austria is done soon. I cede 1 extra turn to next player. my screenies are doo doo therefore there is none. Y'all looked like you were making good progressl Hope I didn't f'up too bad.

@Admiral Kutzov: good shot at it! You experienced what can happen when the lux slider is up, GA ends, and there's less GPT to spend on lux. This particular scenario is designed to make you a little bug-eyed :wow: with all of the shifting alliances and peace treaties.

When you're short on everything but enemy, you're in combat.

(Murphy was an optimist)

@Admiral Kutzov: You really made good military progress in 5 turns. Scoutsout already explained the riots - sure that makes one mad, but that's really not that much to worry in this case. More important is the military progress and yours was good :goodjob:

Next player could wake some units before continuing. There are some benefical attacks left to be made (where our odds attacking are much better than defending). I personally would even try to use the redlined sipahi at Krakow vs the redlined Grenzer, but then I get :crazyeye: when I see a city defended by a redlined and find any unit (and even if its a spear) that has an attack left.

Can you take Napoleon? The gauntlet is thrown. If you do it I would like an SG at a higher level.

Not sure - there are 44 turns left and we should take Russia (for luxes) and Austria (just because) first. I could imagine doing it at deity, the Ottos are a bit more behind other nations in this scenario, but as we did well without any alliance and screwed up a bit on the lux trick T_McC showed...

Let's see how we finish this open SG, if you start a regular SG in this scenario, let me know, slinger. As I finished my last turns on mic3 and ag11 will be over one way or another soon, I'll be on board.

Admiral, you should consider using Dianthus' Mapstat utility. It let's you know when you are going to have a riot.

I have it, had it up and running, and got too into the war and forgot to check it before hitting enter. Should not mix nights, civIII and wars, causes stupidity.

@ lurkers - somebody pick this up and kill the french so i can learn more. :)

If you do not minimize it, but Alt+Tab from it to civ, it pops into the foreground if it can tell you something new.

Beware, it only checks the autosave, so it always shows the stats from the beginning of your turn and does not react to changes you already made.

I'll try this, thanks. Don't know if my stone age processor can handle it.

Somebody pointed me here, cause apparently they think I suck at warfare ;) . If somebody want's to give me a brief recap/overview, then I might be able to pick up some turns tomorrow.

Well, I decided to stay up late and play it tonight. My apologies in advance :) .
Pre-Flight: Do some happiness control in a couple of cities. Wake a Sip near Vienna and attack  something or other. Sorry, can't read my own writing. Wake a redlined sip @ Cracow and attack and capture the city, as per GRSs' advice.

1)Nov 08 Capture Lvov

IBT Russia and Prussia make peace

2) Jan 09 troop alignments

IBT resistance in Prague ends

3) March 09 Attack Warsaw, but battle ends with ONE redlined Grenzer. Draft 2 IBT.

IBT Denmark and Prussia peace, Prussia and France peace. Resistance in Cracow ends. Complete Military Academy and start an army...done in 12.

4) May 09 Capture Warsaw and Austria is no more. Attack Sevastopol and lose 5 units, redline all of theirs  . That place is a rock! I should have moved some arty down there, but I didn't :( .

IBT Portrogal and Russia sign a trade embargo against us.

5) Jul 09 Capture Kiev

IBT France destroys the Dutch.........poor zamint3

6) Sep 09 Troop refreshing, and realignment

The only russian horses I could see were near Konisberg and Bryansk. The only Iron I could see was near Minsk and Tula. These could possibly fall in the next 10 turns I do believe. Just pointing it out.

Side note: This is crazy. I have never seen such madness  . Here a battle, there a battle, everywhere a battle battle...old McDonald had a .......

The Mantra is: Combined Arms....Combined Arms... Combined Arms... (I need a meditating smiley)

Here a battle, there a battle, everywhere a battle battle...old McDonald had a ....... Slugfest!
:hammer:

Nice job taking us some more territory!

Some general commentary (More for the lurkers than Mauer):

To some of you guys who might be new to emperor level no-railroad napoleonic slugfests: Key to this whole combined arms thing is to not get over-anxious. If it takes another turn or two to rally a stack, take that turn or two. Grand Batteries are key in this scenario. Don't send a stack against the enemy without some fire support. It seems tedious, I know... but when you bombard a city and send those Sipahi/Janissaries against redlined defenders, you take few casualties... allowing you to keep pressing forward...

...sorry for the double-post... but Konigsberg has Victory Points we need to collect. :mischief:
