I then suggest DG. At deity we'll face more units thus more VP.

According to mapstat, we'd need something like Prussia, all of Scandinavia, Austria and a few more cities from the Ottomans most likely. Definetely possible on the lower levels, but can we do that before we rack up too many VPs on Deity? I doubt it, but I'm not against a challenge :)
For example, when playing as France on DG (where a victory is almost sure)France+Italy+Spain+Portugal+Gibraltar+Prussia+2/3 of Austria will be 60000VPs, but only about 30% land...

I just opened a discussion in the Britian thread. I appears you can get most of the economy of Europe in MAs. I'm thinking that it would cripple the continent's economy.

Using the rule of thumb, if it feels like an exploit, it probably is an exploit. I think we'll need to put a limit on opening diplomacy.

I agree with Bugsy, we should avoid making any deals of MA, MPP and/or RoP during the first turn, as the bug makes the AI unable to correctly value those deals.

Grimjack

IMHO it is impossible to avoid MAs in the first turn; the AI will sign everyone agiant you then.
France, England and Russia are strong enough to get any MA/MPP for free. France/England can sell their free tech. Just do not take extra gp or Luxes (and cities, of course), and 1st turn Diplo is fine.

I was about to start it up later tonight, when I can take screenies for discussion. If you feel like you have the time now, feel free to go ahead.

Grimjack

I did some creative first turn diplomacy on Sid with France and I can show you the mini-map
Is this the quickest Sid victory ever?
I agrre that MA's should be allowed, taking anything else is not. If you do not form MA's first turn as France or Britain, the other side will Sign the whole world against you. As Britain, if you sign the whole world against France, I have noticed that the collapse in 25 turns or so.

I'm going to make a wild guess and say he re-negotiated peace and demanded cities from weak opponents.

It is a bothersome bug. Even if you refrain from demanding stuff for the MA/Renegotiated peace, you will likely gain something, as turn 2, those alliances would have cost you plenty of money.

Grimjack

I actually just offered MPP's. Then I said that the cities would be much easier to protect if I controlled them. They all agreed.

So it sounds like one rule we'll have is that you can have a MA, but you can't take anything extra in the deal.

Should we put a limit on the number of MAs you can make or is that too restrictive?

Anyone interested in playing one of the OTHER civs in the game? I just modded it to allow the 'unplayable' civs...as all of the other games are Emperor or higher, it might be best to have these games on monarch or lower, the goal being to survive as long as possible...or I could add in some other elements if desired:

OCC Dutch
3CC Portugeese
4CC Danish
5CC Italy

The underdogs.

Edit: Just unzip and drop this in your 'Conquests' folder.

The Dutch on Sid! That's what we want! :yeah:

Or the Danish could be cool too. :)

RBC15g - Prussia (Sir Not Appearing In This SG, but just on the off chance)

Too bad there's no Prussia game! When I return from vacation and there's still no game, I hope I will be able to find some players to play as the Prussians with me. When I took a look at this scenario to make the RBC15 intro posting, the Prussians looked the most interesting to me - I like underdog civs, and I like challenges! :D
