RBP8 - Culture Conquerors

Just change Zimbabwe from Military Ac to Stock Exchange.

1310 : the Babs land a sizeable on force on LeaderFish island (3riflemen, 1 longbow, 1 knight)
The GL gets to Parishaka and waits 2 turns for Wall Street to complete, he will rush Military Academy.
Sanitation due in 3 turns.
1315 : the Babs have 15 frigates around of LeaderFish island
1320/1325 : Wall Street completed, Mil Academy rushed. The Babs are sending outdated units but their Navy is huge. Sanitation found and hospitals started where factories/stock exchanges are completed. Electricity researched in 6 turns making 221gpt. . Wars kept going :)
1330 : Fight on LeaderFish island produces Dingane again ! As the tradition pertains, Elite Cav renamed in honour of one of our illustrious participant in this SG...hehe
Science pushed to Electricity in 4 turns still making 106gpt, as we do not need a prebuild for ToE now. The AIs are now 3 to 4 techs behind probably researching Communism... Parishaka on Hospital.
1335 : Hospital rushed in Parishaka. Egyptians sending lone conscript riflemen in our territory..poor thing !
1345 : Dingane is now in Parishaka.
1350 : Electricity done, Sci Meth due in 4.

Feel free to change build orders around as I did not really look in detail at the order between Stock exchange/Factories/Hospitals.

And that's just for the shock value of when Charis will consult this thread
Might be a lil' different than when he left

Hi! I got back on Thurs but arrived to some major, uh, stuff, hitting the fan. Haven't even gotten to glance at the forums til today.

Of course, I'm up in all games I'm in
I'll hit each of these as soon as I can. Will start with another one in case CivGeneral has picked this up, since I'm late. But if I hear nothing by the time I'm ready, I'll go ahead and play it.

Sorry for the delays and the silence,
Charis

PS Wow, things have progressed here! :P

Thank you guys, good to be back!
..........

The Great Elephant awoke, as if from a deep, deep slumber. He was groggy, and
so sought to move things along in his empire, and let the reins fall back to
a younger man while he caught up on his rest. (Even Elephants must rest!)

These are excerpts from the annals...

His first reponse, talking to the foreign advisor. "Oh Great Elephant, we are
at war with every known civilization on the planet!"
This doesn't even phase Shaka, for not only is their culture superior, but so
is their military prowess. "Impi fodder" was how Shaka referred to 'the civlized
nations of the world.' All will pay handsomely for peace. We can get Nationalism
out of England for Steam and Medicine, which they could buy from our other foes.
As I look around, I think, "omg, 'Fortress Zulu', with so many wars I don't think
I've ever seen such well defended cities and so few attackers in sight."

[0] 1350 - We're the research leaders, and by a long shot. Waiting longer for
pointy stick research would be fruitless. The Elephant things that perhaps
we have lost sight of the supremacy of Zulu culture. His people ask to let
peace have a chance, and most unexpectedly, the Shaka listens.
Peace to England with Steam and Med for Nationalism? One moment.
Seeing no rules against taking a city in tribute, we invite the Babylonian city
of "Kish" into the great Zulu empire as acceptable payment for peace.
England will give Warwick, and Egypt will give no city. So we make them give up
Nationalism, for Industrialization.
The Babylonian deal wrecks their rep, as they tied alliance in with embargoes :P
Warwick gives more tiles to the nice city of New Zimbabwe.

Babylon can and will pay full price for Industrialization, 26g+50gpt. They can also
pay 13gpt for dyes. Then 16gpt for Spices, 17gpt for Ivory. They are now hooked on
our resources and giving us most of their excess income.

On to domestic matters. Parishaka has a hospital but is just size 13?! Workers from
across the land will fix this problem. Who in their right mind would not want to
immediately immigrate to the greatest city on the planet?! Tours and Nandi are
rebuked from stealing tiles from the mother of all cities.

[1] 1355 - Many cities end their celebration of war, but they don't go so far as riot.
Parishaka swells to size 18, more befitting its grandeur. That's exactly 80spt,
with 180 in the box, toward Battlefield Med due in 4 or TOE due in 6. Sci Method
is due in 3, and their is a leader sitting ready to rush one. The best use of shields
seems to be to let BM finish naturally and use the shields made, then immediately
rush TOE after that. Research is kicked back a notch or two to match this.
Parishaka can hit size 22, still have no unhappiness, be fully mined, and still
have positive food, so that's where it goes. Shields currently 84, but there are
two forests yet to clear and mine.

[2] 1360 - Parishaka is nurtured.

[3] 1365 - Hospitals finishing, stock exchanges started. Also some factories are in progress.

[4] 1370 - Parishaka is now size 23, max shields, and still +2 food. It will grow to size 24 then stop.

IBT Battlefield Medicine completes in Parishaka.

[5] 1375 - Dingane rushes the completion of TOE in our glorious Parishaka. We're now at max of 84spt.

IBT TOE completes in Parishaka, catching Atomic Theory and Electronics.

[6] 1380 - Hoover Dam is due in the Great City in 10 turns. We start on Espionage, so that
the city may produce an Agency for the gathering of Intelligence.

[7] 1385 - Workers continue to build rails (in case ur wondering why several cities don't
have optimal mine/irrigation, we've been doing the railnet first)

[8] 1390 - The only tech we lack that others have is Communism. When backward India gets it, can
probably pick it up for several older techs.

[9] 1395 - MMOW

[10] 1400 - Parishaka is hit with Pollution!! The people are so glad a project of clean power,
for the whole nation, is underway and due in six seasons.

Good luck to next leader!
Charis

Great! The Zulu yet live, and Parishaka grows ever greater.

CivGeneral, you are up now. If you're out there...?

edit: CivGeneral, you have until midnight Tuesday (US Eastern which I know you're in) to claim it; if you don't we'll have to skip you again to keep things moving. We waited for Charis because we knew he was out of town and busy, but you haven't given us any indication.

The Save

Um, CivGeneral, do you know how to play this game? The Hoover Dam grants a Hydro Plant to every city on the continent. Building Hydro Plants was, well, a huge waste. At least Parishaka's still on culture this time.

Well, I've got it; let's see if we can get back to a better pace than 2 turns in a week. I can get to it maybe Sunday night or definitely Monday.

Apart from the hydo :smoke: , it's a much better turn CivG, :goodjob:
I have one question though when you say :
"The Indians would like a word with us
They tell us that they would like to sign the RoP and Alliance"

Who would that Alliance be against ? or do you mean it was a Mutual Protection Pact ?
