RBTS7 - L'estasi Dell'oro

Hmm.

It occurs to me that I'm away from my Civ-playing computer from Friday until late-ish Sunday, which may well cover when I should be playing my turn. I've also patched to 3.17 without remembering about this game since I was playing some MP last night, although I imagine I can reinstall or dual-install if necessary.

If you guys don't fancy waiting until Sunday for the next Domination turn darrelljs can play instead, of course.

What are we going to do about the patch for this game? I'd recommend patching if we can, I think. I don't remember seeing anything in the notes that would have made a noticeable difference to how the game has played so far.

If you like I can play the next Domination set and you can play my set.

I'm willling to patch, although I am fairly certain Sulla will not run Epic 20 on 3.17.

I will have to patch for the Apolyton Demo game.
So, I will hold playing until the teams have decided.
Alternatively I could swap with Qwack until we have come to a decision.

I am also playing Epic 20. Do you need to reinstall the original Civ4 to dual-install or just BTS? I believe my original CD has disappeared on me...would be willing to get another one if the rest of the players want to patch.

Do we have a common base yet?
I am willing to swap with Qwack to give people time to think about whether to patch or not. Alternatively I will drop from this SG if the team decides not to patch.

mh

How about we just put this game on hold until we all finish Epic 20, then we can all patch and continue? I think Epic 20 is the only reason for any of us to delay patching.

I'm good with that. It will motivate me to finish early for once. mostly-harmless, if you are skipping Epic 20 due to the demogame you can go aheand and patch, then play your turnset.

Darrell

Looks like most Epic 20 games will be patched shadows, so let's just go ahead and patch and keep playing. Any objections?

Hmm, Marble. I remember a certain wonder that is boosted by marble, that also will significantly improve out science. Hmm, Drama? Oh yea the required tech to that wonder goes through drama. U Da man T-Hawk.

For a moment I thought T-Hawk was smoking something when I saw this:

Workboat being built in seville going to fly over that little isthmus and settle on the fishes?, but alas, T-hawk was not smoking something, because there was another workboat going around the island towards those fishes, while this workboat I am assuming was going to be for Toledo.

Anyways, I let all the builds finish before starting on some monastaries, libraries, granaries, and all the other important infrastructure in the cities that were missing it.

Hatty demands Alphabet, she already hates us so no dice. Suleiman makes a nice offer, Dye for Cows, I accept quickly. Alexanders power is skyrocketing, and I saw him moving some troops towards our border, going to have to watch out for that and build some defense.

Suleiman asks for meditation, sure man why not, I'll give you as many 4000 year old tech's as you want. After drama set research to Literature while cottaging up everything everywhere . Found Santiago in 520 AD.

Meet Zara Yaqob in 540 AD, he is in first place. We have 7 techwhores in the game, and alexander. I am quite happy  After a few chops here and there and everywhere, the fruits of our labor come through:

Currency comes in on the next turn, and that ends my turnset. I doubled our research in the past 20 turns from 40 to 85 beakers per turn, now all we have to do is spam cottages, grow all our cities and fly away. :mischief:

Haha, you spaceheads fell right into my trap. The Great Library is a culture wonder more so than a science wonder. If it averages 10 beakers per turn after multipliers for 200 turns before it expires, that's 2000 beakers, less than 1% of the spaceship grand total of roughly 300,000. But its culture production is at least 32 after doubling and Free Speech; if it runs that for 100 turns, that's 3200 culture, more than 2% of the culture victory total of 150,000. In other words, its proportion of the cultural victory is more than twice its proportion of spaceship victory. QED. :)

Lies. Lets not forgot the extra great scientists it will produce over the course of the game :mischief::p

Lurker: This game is really awesome , keep going please. It is simply wonderful to see you playing that well (especially the Parthenon gambit was nice), and the comment are fun aswell. And none of you seem to suffer from Pholks syndrome either. Looking foward to a continuation.

On a not entirely related note, I wonder how you come up with the ideas (sullla?), and how you find the players for the RBTS games? I have just begun catching interest for SGs, and I'm in my first atm, which is Deity although I normally play a solid Monarch game, no where near Deity. Reason I am wondering is that after the exams and vacations I might be interested in trying to be in a RBTS-SG (I suspect it'll be 09 or 10 by then, so no hurries). I have no Apolyton account  btw.

Anyway, great game, keep it up!

One thing that is damn sure, none of this stuff is helping our military . I'm curious to see if there is any GPP gerrymandering. Acadamies are 4 cpt/turn, after all :mischief:.

Spoiler :
Qwack's plan seems to have us bogged down defending against Alexander, rather than taking the initiative in an offensive war. Its quite a good one I have to admit. Let's turn the tables on them by focusing on Settlers :). Whip 'em non-stop, and settle what sites we can. We really need Catapults, so I think Construction is our tech priority. I'd also trade Drama and Literature to the AI for, well, anything. Even just cash or to start a war. If we lose the Music race, well, it wasn't a major goal of ours anyway . I'll try to look at the save and see if I can come up with any better ideas.

RB succession games usually start at Realms Beyond. L'estasi Dell'oro came out of this thread. You can see the idea morphed quite a bit! If you like variants, or think you might like variants, I'd suggest you try out one of the Adventure or Epic games (registration is free). The current Epic is probably going to be a lot of fun ;).
