RBW3 - Mehmed the Unwise

Got it. Will play in 24. Seems like a good start, but we better start considering when to attack Shaka. I want that jungle territory for cottages that Shaka is currently settling :)

Played 10 turns.

Noticed that we are building barracks in Ankara instead of Workboat. I was about to switch to workboat, but then I noticed that it can be whipped a turn before we need it anyways. This is probably what Atlas was thinking also :). So I left Ankara to finish Barracks.

I also put a couple of signs in terms of future city sites. I dont like the barbarian city because we will have to wait to get hte furs for a long time. My suggestion is to raze that city, and found one 1E of the furs for a nice commerce town.

After cottage was built over first farm, I started cottaging some other tiles in our capital. I was going to whip axeman and start rushing Shaka with 3 of them, but we had 9 production in a axeman from before, so couldnt whip them. So I decided to build that one normally and wait until we have 4 axeman to war. Shaka founds more cities in the north, basically starting to surround us now.

Gotta go to war with him sooner or later. Shaka offers open borders, to which I decline for now. We dont have a trade route with him yet so no advantage for us in open borders. Whipped the workboat in 790 BC and borders expand in 775, Revealing Shaka working some cottages which we will eventually take :goodjob:  .

That will probably be our first target once we have 4 axes. We have axe due in Istanbul in 1 turn, a forest worth 30 about to go into there also, and we can whip 2 axes there for 2 pop afterwards. In Ankara barracks will be out soon, then we can produce/whip axes there once we get a decent pop growth. Edirne still needs barracks, my suggestion is whipping a axe for 2 pop, putting the overflow into barracks, because if we whip barracks first, it will only take away one pop which isnt effecient. I prefer whipping 2 pop but getting an unpromoted axe out of it.

Save: Rat is up for 10.

Is it possible to make those screenshots a little bigger? I know nothing about image-posting.

just click on the screenshot and it will open a new link with it being bigger. I didnt post them as the full screenshot because it will be bigger than the forum resolution horizontally and will make browsing a pain in the ass. Sorry for being lazy and not cropping :p

got it, should I attack with 4 axes or wait a while

played 15 turns, Shaka converted to judaism and someone built the Great Wall. Agreed to OB with Stalin
used capital to whip a few axes. The other towns are working on rax and granary
after maths decided we should go for alphabet

lost 1 axe taking the 1st city,

situation as it is...next city defended by 3 archers, but maybe we leave that city aside and go for the core

Shaka does have an axe in the east, whipped an axe to counter that

we have just finished mining the iron...

I don't think we want to spend our axes on that city just yet (plus it looks a bit misplaced), but you might want to cut the road to that city . With the road cut Shaka will only build archers which can easily be cleaned up with Swords or Axes at a later date, as opposed to shock promoted axes which will be a head ache until Construction.

I would favor going for the core.

Good strategizing! Keep up the good work!

Shaka will stab you in the back without blinking so is very dangerous to try and ally with him. I'd say 4/5 axes and go for it.

I allied with Chief Shaka Zulu and Emperor Qin Shi Huang Di in one of my games.

I'd say so . The harder the games settings the more you need to rely on war to win. Plus, we've got some very warlike team members :ar15:!

So, would you say it is easier to win via domination or Conquest than by any of the other options?

Not that I don't like a little war! :hammer:

It depends. On higher levels there is risk in waging war (aside from the possiblity of losing). Often the buildup, the unit cost maintiance, the infrastructure neglect in favor of units and increased city maintenice can leave you behind tech wise compared to other Civs and you may never catch up.

Not going to war risks letting the AI expand and build unhindered- also risky on higher levels.

However this is a Monarch game, so I doubt anyone on the team is too concerned.

Fellows, I apologize but something came up this weekend and I won't be able to get to it until MOnday...can I get a swap?

This is an amazingly fast-moving SG! I like it!
