RBW3 - Mehmed the Unwise

I don't even know how he is quoting those images, I thought the forum was set up to prevent that :crazyeye:. To answer his question, I believe that Ozbenno is from Oceania so it isn't morning for him.

I'd be game for a peaceful victory, I've gotten in a rut where my last four games were backdoor domination. That said I don't have a strong opinion and will go whatever direction the team wants to.

Darrell

Ozbenno is in Australia, not Oceania.

Again, I'd like to see you try a builder's game. But I think a military victory is the way to go.:king:

T0-Whip Hamman in Edrine

T1-Isabella adopts Vassalage

T2 Hanging Gardens started in Edrine (due in 145 turns)

T7-Construction in.

T7 (cont.)Both Buddhism and Judaism spread to us this turn. Istanbul still has crazy amounts of unhappiness. Edrine is still my only whip. Judaism spread to Noamba (the former Shaka Gems town) once that pops the borders down there to include the grassland cows I would recommend a switch to Buddhism to get some trading partners. Decide to tech to Temples (short-term happiness goal there)

T9- Izzy comes demanding Gems- sure (cancel in 10 turns).

T10- Whip Library in Ankara to really take advantage of those gems. Chopping the HG is currently under-way. Meditation is finished and I have tentatively set research to Priesthood, so we can get some temples.

What's the deal with the fuzzy screenshot? I saw another one in the RBW2-Angry Korea Man thread.

You have much to learn young grasshopper. The graphics on all computers are not identical. The reason why you saw a similar screenshot in RBW2 was because it was Atlas* in both cases.

PS: Overwhelming numbers of comments that are not necessary are sometimes frustrating or annoying.

Yeah, I have some Graphics glitch. If I restart the comp. I get normal leader heads, but invariably at some point the graphics do this thing that can best be described as the graphics version of "a cd skipping." Once that happens it won't happen again until I restart the comp. Sometimes that graphics glitch does not recover, or it recovers to the base terrain (I can see tiles, but forests or tile improvements), but like 4 out of 5 times it recovers in like 5 seconds to normal play, but after that the leader head are all whacky. Since I have never seen anyone else with this problem it must be specific to my computer (graphics card).

It is on the verge of spamming

Yes Master Kodii.:mischief:

Completed.

Started off by opening borders to Isabella, and set research to Sailing for foreign trade routes. Even with 25 turns of penalties in Istanbul, I whipped hamman there because +2 happiness earlier is more important than -1 happiness for 15 turns more. We meet Huayana Capac a turn later.

Looks like our island will have enough for domination.. *Cough Cough* to those that were suggesting peaceful victories. But seriously, I dont really mind either way, I just prefer warring alot.

A turn later, Isabella converts to judiasm.. which basically means she is going to hate Stalin soon.. Meh. Great Lighthouse FIADL in 145 BC. With ancient wonders going so late, getting hanging gardens seems like a good possibility. I was whipping more forests around that area. Sailing comes in 130 BC and puts our GNP high. A couple of turns later.. guess what

Well.. Well.. I decided to accept her offer. Stalin is furthest away so war doesnt seem likely, and he is the best techer right now, so we really dont want to trade with him much. Isabella on the other hand, has some resources we can use, so its better to develop herr into a friend.. atleast for now. So basically, I accept her offer, then I trade pigs to her for wine. I attack barb city in 55 BC and take it without any losses (good luck :goodjob: ). I razed it since that spot is horrible IMO.

I had started a settler a couple of turns back in Istanbul also. I played 1 extra turn by mistake, so my mistake on that, but I notice that Shaka is sending a settler party towards the barb city. I probably should have waited to attack that.. but ill let TheRat decide waht to do with that party. We can attack it and steal a worker if he goes after the wheat spot, or just let him settle and settle our own furs city..

I suggest whipping hammam in Ankara before the forest comes in so we can whip it for 2 pop. Also, suggest whipping settler in Istanbul for 2 pop also. Currency will come in 3 turns.

A few things to tell you:

You met Huayna Capac! He is BOUND to run away with the game if you don't do something about it! Maybe target his most important city (like I did in one of my games, although that was on Noble).

I saw some barbarian borders in the screenshot with Assyrian in it. I also saw that there is IRON inside those borders! Maybe the "Barbarian Empire" isn't ready to give up yet. What are you going to do about those borders?

About the Hanging Gardens, it isn't as powerful a wonder with your variant. Extra population in each cities? That's only good for "super slavery" .

@Swein Forkbeard

Standard SG protocol is to NEVER quote a picture. This is gettting annoy to read even as a lurker...

@Swein: I don't even know what the purpose is of quoting an entire post. Nobody needs that as we aren't blind. We have read Quacks post already. A quote is to emphasize a certain point, but quoting an entire post is meaningless...anyone would simply be annoyed about this spam

@Quack, do not see any save :scan:

save

whipped hammam as said on turn 1 after the city grew
Shaka founded another city in the north in a real bad spot...
got us currency, next CoL
got fed up and demanded 170gold from Shaka and he gave it to us
still declared war on him

took that city and razed it for 5 gold

got the Hanging Gardens
agree to OB with Huayna

Spain came with this ridiculous suggestion
mehmed1.jpg

then Stalin demanded alphabet
decided to give in, too many enemies are no good

sold him currency for 310gold, decided to get calendar (+priesthood) from Huayna for 2 techs

then took Kwa... since it has all those nice calendar resources
mehmed.jpg

took yet another city for more calendar resources, though it will mean economic suicide for now
(actually no, since 70% research still gives us positive income)

played a total of 13 turns...

the situation: Shaka is willing to talk and since we do not really have the troops, we should go for it
he will give us archery, the only tech he has
Isabella would give us monarchy and archery for currency

once we connect all those calendar resources (3 different ones). we should be in great shape
we are going for civil service right now, done in 10

yummy land in the south

Good Looking turns TheRat!!

We may want to consider a switch to Judaism.

Also a settler in the south to grab that sugar and gold might be nice.

Got it, will be able to play in 24 hours. That is going to be a hard turnset to follow up :goodjob:. What does everyone think about the switch to Judaism? I haven't looked at the save yet but just noting Isabella and Stalin swing that way make it attractive. Stalin doesn't care to much IIRC, but it will still help and of course with Izzy that's that.

I sort of have a switch to Judaism in mind followed by some way of poisoning Izzy and Stalin's relationship- religion switch bribe? war bribe? something like that.

Ahhh... Diplomacy with a runaway AI and his enemies. I have the same situation in my game as Kublai Khan, where the Soviets (Egyptians) are just running away with the game (well, not really, Hatty got to Physics and Communism first, but I have rails and factories and she doesn't want to dream about them. I therefore was the first to Fascism in that game. Decisions, decisions).

@Swein: I'm not sure I see the point of many of your comments like the one above. Please keep in mind that many RB players (myself excluded) are among the best around, and don't necessarily need to be reminded of every possible strategic possibility. While lurking a SG is encouraged, it's probably a bit rude to interject your own advice into a game where the participants are trying to make the decisions themselves.

My advice: Why don't you join or start a SG of your own? That way your strategic insight could be put to more relevant and productive use.
