Really Advanced Setup

I'm curious. Does the game work for you (with or without mods)? Especially the standard non-modded Advanced Setup Screen.

Do you have any idea how you got yourself into the position where the standard game files are not building the in-game database correctly and Steam can't find any problems with them?

I'm no database expert but it looks like the your problem is either in the SQL\Civ5EngineDatabaseSchema.sql file. Or else something else is removing the Map_Sizes object after it's created by that file.

Hello General Tso.

I installed and activated the mod. But I don't find the "Setup".

Where I can find it? in the normal Advanced Setup there are no changes.

I have both addons and all updates. Steam version

Thanks

If that previous question is directed at me. Then yes game works just fine with and without mods.
Problem with different files might be I have DVD version from times I had no internet so no steam version.

@Gb4u:
To use the Really Advance Setup mod in your game first enable it then click "Next".
Then click "Single Player" then "Set Up Game" then "Advanced Setup".
Do NOT click "Back". That just causes you to exit the mod.

The new version of the mod is almost finished but has NOT been released yet. Here's a list of the new features.

Added an option to have specific terrain appear around starting points. (Just like resources currently do.)

Added an option to have specific features appear around starting points. (Just like resources currently do.)

Added an option to have specific natural wonders appear around starting points. (Just like resources currently do.)

Added the option to randomly add Terrain, Features, Resources, And Natural Wonders across the entire map.

The user interface has had some major changes (hopefully for the better). It is a lot easier to move around from panel to panel. It's also easier to add and remove things.

Here's a few screen shots if anybody is interested.

The images include: The new Civs Panel. The new Wonder Panel used for each Civ. The new Terrain Panel used for each Civ. The new Map Bonus panels used for placing items randomly across the map. And a screen shot from a game created using some of the new settings.

Hey i was wondering. When i pick civs not to be in my game it doesn't seem to work and they show up anyway, was this a function that didn't work?

That problem was fixed some time ago. The current version is 9 (for now). Are you using an older version?

Ok general tso I have used advanced setup version 6 with no problem but version 9 i cant select how i want the map to look are the distance to see i like to use earth but i cant select anything am i doing something wrong?

I would recommend trying the standard approach for all Civ 5 mod problems. Disable all other mods. Clear the cache. Then try this mod by itself.

To clear the Civ 5 cache:
1. Make sure you exit Civ 5.
2. Find the Civ 5 cache folder.
It's location might vary slightly depending on what operating system you have.
Mine is located at: "Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\cache".
3. Delete the cache folder.
4. Restart Civ 5 and load the mod in the usual fashion.

@bladewing: If you are interested in trying to find the Lua error that is probably causing this problem you could turn on Lua error logging and look for the error message. Post number 234 in this thread explains how.

well here you go hope it helps.

You're probably using an older version of the game. If so you need to update it.

I'll add some code to the next version of my mod that will help with this situation. It should make the mod usable with older versions of the game but there will still be a few glitches with maps that expect new code to be present.

alright ill keep using the older one that i have until you are done with version 10 thanks for checking out whats wrong.

map options bug..
and sometimes whenever i play w/o this mod.. science/religion/etc are still off..

help plz

I tried everything you mentioned in the previous posts including deleting the cache folder, heck i reinstalled the game and deleted all files related to the game before installing and i only use one mod but still the Map tab is blank. i don't use any other mod because this mod has it all so please help.

Anybody encountering an error where part or all of a panel is blank - I would be greatly interested in knowing what Lua errors are generated (if any). Finding these errors is relatively easy but requires a few steps as listed below.

Here are the steps required.
1. Enable logging: Open Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\config.ini with a text editor. Change "LoggingEnabled = 0 to "LoggingEnabled = 1"

2. Start the game and mod as normal and go to the panel that is causing the problem. To be on the safe side go to another panel then return to the problem panel. That way the problem panel was opened twice.

3. Either open the log file with a text editor and inspect it or else just post it here. The log file is located at "Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\Logs\Lua.log".

If you are checking out the file yourself then look for lines that start with something like "Runtime Error:" The game usually outputs several lines for a single error and it's possible for more than one group of lines to be located in a single log file. Here is an example:

[5853.999] Runtime Error: C:\Users\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS\Really Advanced Setup (v 7)\UI Overrides\AdvancedSetup.lua:37: attempt to index global 'yik' (a nil value)

cache thing ddnt work imma wait for the soln 1st ^ ^

I did what you suggested but I still cant select a map or map size.

Hello Everyone, I think I solved this problem, at least it works for me...

The problem is - The Version of the game, I encountered this problem when I installed the mod on v1.0.3.80. I tried everything, that was suggested in this tread, but the maps were still inactive. First, I was ready to stop trying, but decided it would be a little cowardly, so I kept pushing. Well, after a few hours, I managed to get the patch to v1.0.3.144 (I tried a couple different variants) and finally, I made it working. On Civilization V v1.0.3.144 this mod doesn't cause that bug. At least for me.

Sorry for a lot of quoting, I just wanted to let know everyone who has such problem that it can be solved, and I didn't find any better way. Hope it helps you.

And by the way, General Tso... Awesome mod friend.

p.s. I would've given the Link to the patch, but I guess it's illegal here, so good luck finding it yourself...

You should buy the game. It's not as expensive as it was and well worth the price (and was so even when it was new).

General Tso,

Here is the error message I get when try and load up the maps using the Really Advanced Setup Mod. The entire Maps selection area is blank.:
