That is, a good, cheap, not too demanding on my system computer RPG.

I played Wizardry 8 and liked it a lot, but I'm at a bit of a loss for another. I'm not so keen on real-time combat, although I think that it's hard to avoid nowadays. I also quite like having groups rather than just one person, although again I can manage without.

KOTOR 1 and 2 are nice if you are into starwars or if you can tolerate it.

The elder scrolls series and Baldurs gate definately.

Dunno about you, but for me, all Elder Scrolls games were the exact "version" of what Wizardry8(which i loved) should NEVER be like. So a large negative vote for Morrowind.
But maybe that's just me. :)

Agreed with KOTOR & Baldur's Gate.
However don't expect to find any other game with the same feel as Wizardry.

Try out Temple of Elemental Evil. With patches and fan mod it's very cool squad RPG game. With good D&D style. I think it's a bit of underrated game. Temple of elemental evil Check out that site for more precise info.

There's even a trail full game to download. You can try full game 6 hours. Google it and you'll find it.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Fallout yet. Might be hard to find though.

Fallout (which I still havn't found), Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 + expansion(s), (still havn't found 1 yet either >.>), The Elderscrolls: Morrowind (a gazillion mods are availiable for it too!), Diablo 2.

No other suggestions ?
I have playd BG 1&2 with add-ons, I finished KOTOT 1&2, I start to play Morrowind every now and then but never finish it because I'm alwys distracted by side quests and alwys lose interest at some point and I fear it would be the same with Oblivion (another things that keeps me from buying Oblivion is the outrageous crappy translation of the German version)...
Aren't there any more not too old -and ideally party-based- good RPGs ?

Temple of Elemental Evil, as I said.

KOTOR is one of the best RPGs ever. I enjoy a very deep and involved storyline, and this game takes it above and beyond the movie license with great gameplay at its core!

PLANESCAPE: TORMENT

If you have not played this, get it right now. It blows everything else out of the water. Even Fallout.
Also: it's party-based and you have pretty much the best party members ever.

Isn't it out of print by now? I was under the impression that the only way to get your hand on a legitimate copy is to rob the national bank of Switzerland. In order to get the instructions on how to get your hands on a copy. And even then you are unlikely to get any proper customer support.
