I know it's a bit too early to know the exact computer specs for 7, but can anyone take a guess or ascertain what the exact recommended hardware will be?
I run:
NVIDIA Ge Force GTX 1060 6BG

Intel Core i5-7600 CPU @ 3.50 Hz

15.93 GB RAM

It shouldn't be too early to know. The game is available to pre-order, so not indicating the minimum and recommended hardware is a faux pas from Firaxis, IMHO. They should have announced this. With a disclaimer that specs could change if they wanted.

Your GPU and CPU are like 8 years old and on the low end for their time periods. From how Civ 7 looks, it seems like the best case scenario for your rig is that it will struggle a lot and need very low settings.

So it's GPU and CPU you think I should get upgraded? How about my graphics card?
Well I want to emphasize you shouldn’t bust out your credit card and start buying stuff right this second. Min specs aren’t released and like I said hopefully there’ll be a demo.

But yes it’s undeniable your hardware is really old and low end. (GPU and graphics card mean the same thing)

The problem is you’ll need new everything if you want to upgrade to something current. Your motherboard won’t support a modern cpu or gpu. Your current ram won’t work in a modern motherboard. A new cpu and gpu will likely need a better power supply than you have. See what I’m saying?

In your rig, it’s likely the only transferable thing is the hard drive. And even then there are some awesome modern high capacity fast ones with different form factors like NVME.

So basically I should get a new gaming computer?

If you want to upgrade your pc to something modern, you basically need new everything.

However, if you’re happy with it, I don’t think you should do anything until the minimum specs are released and/or you can play a demo and see how your pc does. No harm in sitting tight.

Civ 7 looks like it’s going to be more demanding, but we have to remember it’s apparently coming out on the Switch, so we have to imagine there’s some scaling that can work.

My computer is just as old as yours and I am not worried about playing the game. If I really like the game and think I can get more than 100 hours out of it, then I would consider upgrading.
