The world seems on the edge of war as a new defensive treaty is forged by several European nations. Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Germany and the United Kingdom have signed a defense treaty against the USSR. Known as the European Defense League or EDL, they have sworned to protect Europe from further Soviet incursions.
Germany and Austria have formed an alliance to further promote German unity. Austria refuses to join with Germany though.
The Polish resistance gets some unknown help as it's partisan fighters are trained into freedom fighters. The now 12000 strong army has launched gureilla warfare against the USSR. This has stopped them from collecting 2 WC this turn. The USSR is moving nearly 100,000 more troops into Poland. A large confrontation is inevatable.
Every nation of Europe has enlarged it's economy. (minus NPCs)
Saudi Arabia has discovered a large amount of Oil Wells. It is willing to sell this oil in return for 10 WC. The country that recieves the oil will get +3 WC for 5 turns.
Massive defensive lines are vbeing constructed across Europe. These are the costs for each line. It will take a lot of money and time to finish these great defensive works-
Pyrannes Line- 100 WC- cuts across the Pyrannes mountains(costs more), will help defend ground and air attack.
Maginot Extension- 80 WC- The strongest defensive line in the wrold gets stronger as the line is extended across the Italian, Swiss and Belgium border
Venice Line- 75 WC- A line of defensive fortifications running from Venice to the Swiss border.
Southampton Wall- 50 WC- Will protect agaisnt Amphibious invasion along the southern coast of England.

The population costs no longer matter. I will keep the population stat up though so you can see how much is dropping during war. Remember, each turn is 2 months, the Magiot line stressed the French economy and took years to build. The above prices are fairly resonable.

Now that Finland and Åland has received independence it is time for Åland to be returned to Sweden. Sweden calls for a vote in which it is decided by the people of Åland which country they want to belong to, Sweden or Finland(ooc: in RL around 1920, 90% of the Åland people wanted to belong to Sweden).

-begin small fortifications of Gotland and Öland(the 2 small islands outside swedens eastern/south-eastern coast: mainly bunkers, mines, trenches etc. Nothing that normal soldiers and engineers cannot do
EDIT: according to my eyes(if correct...), Åland is swedish colored, as is Bornholm(island between sweden and germany)
Bornholm should actually be Danish, Åland finnish. Or is that change intentional considering the alternate history?

Once complete, a land invasion would be impossible and it would be very difficult and costly for any foe to launch an air attack from the east. Will you contribute some money to help us build this defensive line to ensure the sovereignty of both our nations?

As another Catholic nation, we support Ireland's independence. Spain, whose monarch once held the title of Most Christian King, will back the Holy See in supporting Ireland.

Please, leave our Catholic brothers in Ireland alone. If they do not wish to join with the United Kingdom, please do not coerce them. A war in the British Isles would give the Reds the perfect opportunity to launch an attack against the West.
