Red/Black blob issue

This is a tough one and doesn't conform to any of the typical reb blob symptoms. That typically can't be fixed by a reload like this one can. Im going to need some help to try to see if we can find a pattern to narrow it down.

So if you get the red/black blob issue in your games please take a screenshot and attach it to a post it in this thread.

I'm not sure but:
it seems that when I get a red blob, the whole model is missing; when I get a black blob, only part is missing (example, feet). I've not had it often enough though to say if that is a rule.
also once I had a huge, multi-tile red blob, which I *think* was a missing Smoke, but I can't be sure and I'm not sure if I have a screenie. I'll look.

I believe my experiences are the same as Marnok, black for missing lower parts and red for missing model. Will offcourse be on the lookout for more precise observations.

If it helps, I've seen this [black blob on lower half] start to happen when I went into the WB then exited out. I think it was a Malakim archer at the time. Sorry I don't have any evidence.

I would say that about 75% of all red blobs in my games is Acheron. But I have only seen maybe ten out of all the games Ive played. Sorry I dont have any screenshots.

In my latest game it was a frigate (guarding a sea resource) that every now and then turned into a blob (the entire model turned into a blob = red blob), sometimes it stayed like that even when I reload a save or even FFH, but I noticed that when I moved the ship into a city (my plan was to switch configuration on it) it switched back to the frigate model again. Every time after that I moved my ship into a city and wella a frigate.

I have also bumbed into red blob when I saw a frostling and an axemen in a barbarian city, but on that one I don't know what is the red blob, if it is one of the unit models or something else.

I've never seen the blob, then again I haven't played that many games, but I've played many of the scenarios a few MP games and 2 short epic games.

The only time I saw a blob was in a kazad (I think) City. Not sure what was in it though.

I've already posted a half-dozen blob screenshots, and it should be no problem posting more.

I find the Stooges are almost always red-blobbed. Also, Hunters, Scouts and Wizards seem to get the red blob too.

I just finished a game as Sheaim and have to say that the black blobs I get remind me of my Tar Demon units from the Planar Gates.

I on't have an screen shots but I've had the red blob a couple of times, both with Spiders and the black blob once with a Warrior. Only his lower half was missing.

With the red blob, if I moved another spicer over it, the problem would be fixed.

This is in a rather heavily modded game where I cheated a lot, but here is a screenshot of Orthus appearing as a red blob.

check the actual models maybe for junk data? not the game code but the models code... I've seen something relatively similar while working with other game engines...

Seems like whenever it pops up, it starts as the red blob, then goes to black, then it might go back to normal at some point later. Anyway, this was some 0.40 version before 0.40k, don't recall which one.

I recently had to upgrade my video card when my old card died. With my old card (7000 series NVidia), I would see intermittent problems with the red and black blobs. I always mentally wrote it off as a glitch with a card that was having issues. I upgraded to a 200 series NVidia and the blobs have not made an appearance since.

This may not help find a solution, but it does bring up the fact that drivers and/or video cards may be a factor in the blobs...

This happened just after I re-loaded a game. Initially it was a red blob, just after setting a promotion to a Luridus it turned black.

Got a worker who turned into a red blob, but it disappeared when I reloaded.
