If you want to get real technical with this, then in 5 billion years or so our sun will go supernova, which will obviously render the Earth to be a very hot place at its death.

Actually, our sun is much too small to become a supernova. In about 10 Billion years It will expand a bit, turn into a red giant, then let off a massive cloud of gas (what gas I don't know) turn into a white dwarf , eventually burn out, then the earth will FREEZE from lack of sunlight. Hopefully we will have the technology to escape and find a new home...
