Redrawing the Map

About Albania, should be this, if Albania had influence.

Iirc most kossovar albanians do not want to be united with Albania.
Furthermore the majority of kossovar albanians are muslim, whereas Albania has also catholic and orthodox.

And Albania does not have influence. It is one of the poorest countries- possibly the poorest in Europe, along with Moldavia). It has a very large workforce immigration problem, with most young albanians working in the surrounding countries + Italy. Also organised crime has reached monumental proportions. It will take a lot of work if the country is to become something with an EU future.

The problem is that Albania never had a national identity to start with. The country was created by Italy & Austria-Hungary, during the balkan wars, simply so that Greece and Serbia would not expand more. Of course there is an albanian language, and a nation, and they have the right to a country, however whereas the rest of the countries in the region had their circle of nationalism and expansion to a degree, Albania was from the start a protectorate. This lead to albanian nationalism being strong in current times, with Kossovo being a very good example of that, and also in slavic Macedonia where there was a small civil war a few years ago due to albanian separatism.

I do not think that Kossovo will become a country. Serbia wants to keep it as an autonomous region within Serbia. Possibly if some sort of package plan, regarding bosnian serbian lands, is discussed, they could part with Kossovo though. However i think it is unlikely that Kossovo will become another province of an albanian state.

modified my europe map a little.

Red (of any shade): good
Black: bad
Blue: not quite as bad as black, but still rather bad

I find that humorous considering that most of those Eastern European countries are in NATO now.

A united North America with a very weak Federal government. Feds would be in charge of the mail, military, currency, international relations, inter-region commerce and travel, and inter-regional disputes.

The regions would loosely be like:

Each region would have greater autonomy than the Provinces do now.

Each region would mint its own unique currency, much like the Euro.

New Hampshire should probably be either red or medium blue; it's nothing like Boston-New York-Philly.

It should probably be its own colour. But I did this in 5 minutes -- spent more time looking for unique colours than thinking about this. New Hampshire isn't Maritime and is too libertarian to be lumped in with Ontario. I could have lumped it in with the midwest, but I wanted the colours to touch!

Well, it does have a lot in common with Maine and the bits of Minnesota I saw over the summer...

But for administrative purposes, I suppose it's fine where it is. It might secede from Bosnyphilseycutland first chance it gets, though.

:)

When I was in Cyprus in 1989, there were allot of Turks there who would have been VERY unhappy to be joined with Greece. Has that changed?

^^ No, probably hasn't changed at all. Those Turks would just go back to Turkey I suppose.

Why put Alaska with Alberta instead of BC?

Considering the fact that a lot of the Turks in Cyprus immigrated through a violation of the Geneva Convention, (Immigration by an occupying power) they'd probably just go back to Turkey.

Parts of Belgium and Switzerland may go to Netherlands and Germany, but I'm too lazy to do it.
