I see 10. AUGUST 2014 as a release date for Beyond Earth at the official Civilization website (massively updated today).

I can't find any other confirmation for this date, though.

The English site still says Fall 2014. I'd be really glad if it were August 10, but that isn't even fall. Still summer, for northerners.

Yes, in some languages it says "10. AUGUST 2014", in other languages - "Fall 2014"

Traditional Firaxis release date is usually Sept/Oct. So I'd say "Fall" is as accurate as it needs to be at the moment. I wouldn't trust "August 10" at all. It's too early for their release cycle.

Hi there. I can confirm that this was placeholder text and that we have not announced a release date for Civilization: Beyond Earth

Stay tuned!

I was just about to suggest that maybe they typed in 10/08/2014, which is October 8, 2014 in the US, but the European sites read it as 10 August, 2014. But then you posted this and blew my theory right out of the water.

Bah. Oct. 8 is when Dragon Age: Inquisition comes out. I'm only going to buy one game this fall, and saving the other for winter. CBE better come out earlier, or I won't be playing it until January.

nicely done up website.

I still dont understand why there is a pre-order button if you don't get any extra goodies while pre-ordering. When it comes out I buy it on steam and it downloads within an afternoon. Why the pre-order?

Because they like money, and some people will pre-order even when there is no benefit to doing so.

For me it's the pre-load and the fact I'll likely play at 11pm my local time as that's when it usually drops AND I will likely have the week off of work cause I am an old person and I have about 8 weeks of vacation to use in a year.

Oh god, don't make me choose firaxis!

I can't believe you guys consider a consoletastic action RPG with a trainwreck of a prequel to be any serious competition.

I found both Dragon Age games to be quite entertaining, but they don't take more than a week or two to play through.

Agreed. Had a great time with both but they weren't real long. I guess the first one with DLC was a fair length.
