religion spread, is there a maximum?

I know this is evil, but it is also historically correct : Is it possible to persecute a religion from a city? :scan:

Other than to raze the city there is no way to 'remove' a religion.

In addition to the number of religions in any city and attempting to add another but more often than not failing to do so. Do any of you think that temples, etc, make it harder to spread another religion??? Just thinking that maybe buildings play a part in the success rate.

I dont think so because I rarely have a problem with a city which has only one religion. Even if it is the holy city for another religion with a temple and the special building for that religion.

In my experience, buildings do not play a part in the success rate of spreading a religion. I think it is solely based on how many religions are already present in the target city.

Would it be doable to discover all religions but allow only one to spread all-over the world so that every civs have the same one?

Maybe you could do this if you destroy the holy cities of all of the other religions. (E.g., by giving the cities away to AI players and then attacking and razing them.)

I'm not sure, if there are no cities left in the world with a particular religion, whether that prevents the religion from ever spreading again.
