Report Bug, Get Patch

Not really a bug, but a strange thing nonetheless. I was fighting against Han Sui and killed him, after which Ma Teng became the leader. But Ma Teng was already the leader of Liangzhou. So Ma Teng was furious at me for attacking him, but also cautious of me for attacking his friend :D

So, how exactly does the inheriting the throne mechanism work? I thought that factions with more than one possible leader, the alternative leader would inherit the throne. Yet when Cao Cao died, Xiahou Dun became the leader of Cao clan. Will Cao Pi ever inherit the throne?

Ma Teng the general got hired by Han Sui and therefore he succeeded him. Ma Teng (the faction) is separate.

I saved my game last night around August 214 and today I CTD'd when loading it. So I went back to December 213 and was able to finally load, but come January 214 I CTD'd again. What's wrong?

Maybe Han Sui is also counted as a Liangzhou faction (since he is, historically). Or Ma Teng developed a split personality.:)

So I migrate to Qiao, build a Yellow Turban, try to use him to capture workers (bad move since they appear as barbarian to the AI so workers flee), try to capture them in a city but instead I go straight INTO the city even though I don't have OB with Cao Cao! I thought barbarians are supposed to attack rather than go into cities?

I think what is needed is a question to the player asking whether they want to attack the city or not, because otherwise you can't even surprise the AI. Also, maybe a separate button allowing the player to switch to barbarian guise would be good.

Patch D is out, it will break save game, download here: http://sanguoforciv4.googlecode.com/files/HoTK V2.5 Patch D.exe

I don't have the changelist at hand, so please check the documents folder after you applied the patch.

Another thing is there's an unfixed bug: the hero duplication bug. This one is responsible for most of the CTDs at the time being, however, for all the save games uploaded, this bug has already occured so it become impossible to track the cause. In patch D I made a little modification so that whenever a similar bug occurs, in the end of that turn, the game will force itself to crash. So please upload the save game for that turn as well as the latest autosave when you encounter CTD in patch D. Thanks very much.

Thanks! Did you fix Yang Feng's bugs (where barb wins accumulate XP but generals don't appear in Yang Feng's domains, and yellow turbans can enter cities without OB)?

Started a new game with Patch D.

When Liao Hua becomes available for hiring, if I go to the Hero Advisor Screen, the screen is blank. If I adjust my gold stockpile, so that he becomes no longer hirable (ie, I no longer have enough money for him), the screen can viewed again.

I've included save files of the turn before and the turn after it goes blank.

I don't understand. You need 432g to hire Liao Hua, and you only have 100g or so.

However, I can reproduce your bug with a new game (e.g. when Guan Yu is available in the no-city small map for 110g or so, there's a blank screen).

I downloaded the new patch, started an immortal game as Cao Cao, and immediately noticed there was a bugged hero in one city named "Wei Hero" that was level 1203434 or some such nonsense.

Sorry, my earlier post was obviously no help at all.

It was the first 64_64 scenario; the hero looked like Yu Jin. It led to some weird behavior. I couldn't select just "Wei Hero" - it would always group him with another unit or group.

My game froze when a sound file called MedievalSoundtrack20 could not be found.

I took a screenshot:

Okay...I downloaded the music patch and it works great.

I found a couple of heroes that seem to cause problems.

One of them starts in one of the Cao Cao cities and can't do anything. I don't remember his name, but it is something "hero" not an actual name. I have get a screen shot the next time that I come accross it.

The other is in this screenshot. I think he is name Dou Jian. When I convert him and click end turn the game crashes.

That is the hero that I was talking about in my above post. He starts out in the eastern most city ruled by Cao Cao in the 68_64 194 AD scenario. I just deleted him in WB and went on with the game.

BTW, what is the 51_51, 68_64, and 81_81 scenarios? What are the differences? Is there anywhere to read about the various scenarios?
