Suggested improvement for Info Screen
  • there are currently 7 charts controlled by a drop down
  • change the drop down to a list of 7 text items (similar to the tab text) so that swapping between the charts is quicker
  • create a montage option that shows all 7 charts at the same time
  • make the smaller charts clickable - click on it and you jump to the full size version

Add Foreign Trade Total to Advanced Scoreboard

It would show the total value of all trade routes you have with each civ, same number shown on the EFA's INFO page. Put it immediately after the Trade Network icon by default. It could also go in the regular scoreboard.

Perhaps use F (for foreign since V for Value has a better use [see below]) as its code. [Note to self: You really need to make a dual-list layout like CDA for choosing and ordering the columns.]

I've been thinking about espionage. I fairly often want to know how much rivals are putting on me and sometimes I'm curious about what they're putting on others too. Some general ideas:

1) Access to the basic espionage ratio between you and a rival on the espionage screen. Currently all you get is the spending discount which is based on total points rather than how much is in the bank vs that civ. It sucks having to close out of that screen and hover over the scoreboard several times when trying to gauge where I need to put my points. No idea where to put it though unless we could add one of the diplomacy hover texts (or a custom one).

2) Estimating per-turn AI espionage spending by comparing how much was accumulated last turn with how much is accumulated this turn. Again not sure where to display this unless it was included in the foreign advisor info pane or a special espionage glance screen.

3) Similar to above, an alert when somebody's points against you has decreased (e.g. "Agents suspect (civ) has launched an espionage attack against us"). I'm not too proud to admit that when I get a poisoned water supply or similar nonsense during peacetime, I check the espionage ratios in the scoreboard hover, and then load up the previous turn to compare them and see who is screwing with me so I can plot my revenge.

Since the espionage ratios are part of the standard diplomacy hovers it would all technically be accessible information even though we'd probably have to call CyTeam.getEspionagePointsAgainstTeam() since it doesn't look like CvGameTextMgr::getEspionageString() is exposed to Python.

Add Vassal Column to Advanced Scoreboard

If a player is the vassal of another, put an icon (dunno what) next to their name in the scoreboard.

If a player has at least one vassal, put a different icon (a crown perhaps?) in the same column (they are mutually exclusive like war/peace).

Use V (I hope that's obvious) for its code.

Impetus

I recently missed when Lincoln, an AI I had been beating up on over the course of several centuries, became the vassal of a much stronger player during one of the many rest periods (read tech extractions) I gave him. I must not have been paying close enough attention to hear the sound or catch the message.

In any case, ready to finish him off, I alt-clicked Lincoln in the scoreboard and was shocked to hear two trumpet calls and find that I was now at war with Hannibal and his 2.6 power ratio to me!

Had I only known . . .

I feel your pain. Those vassal signings can be easy to miss and I believe I did that once myself...

While I like icons as much as the next guy, I had a different thought on the Vassal situation. In order to more easily see which vassal belongs to whom (since you might have multiples) what about the vassal having a V in the scoreboard color of his/her master and the master an M in the same color.

It looks like vassal is always V in the various languages and master would be M/H/S so you could tell them apart in any language and the color-coding would hopefully be pretty useful.

There's also the possibility of differentiating voluntary vassals with capitulated vassals by using a different letter such as C/K although that might get too confusing.

This would work just fine. I still kinda like an icon for the leader that has vassals, only to differentiate them from the vassals themselves. And each vassal's V would have the leader's color already. But I could go either way.

The gold or silver star would work for the vassal owner until we can get something cooler.

AFAIK there's no game difference between the two, is there? For example, capitulated vassals won't consider you a liberator if you attack their owner, will they, and leave you alone? If that's the case (no difference), I don't see the need to complicate the display.

re vassals / masters ... what about re-ordering the scoreboard and putting a slight indent in the vassals name ... say, 2 or 3 spaces. Or " - Name".

re vassals / masters ... what about re-ordering the scoreboard?

Do you mean just pull up the vassals of a civ so they are immediately below it, but otherwise keep the score-ordering? The numbers in the first column are the original ordering and wouldn't be shown in the scoreboard.

Code:
1 513 Hannibal
5 142 Montezuma
7 53 Victoria
2 359 [Ruff Hi]
6 107 Mansa Musa
3 242 Julius Caesar
4 215 Boudica

That wouldn't be too hard, and of course would be optional. I do like that it doesn't require a new column as the scoreboard is getting pretty wide. And I bet we'll be adding more columns as we go. :)

While I'm thinking of it, some alerts are still missing (I think these are in the tracker):

  • Willing to...
    • Stop Trading
    • Declare War
    • Sign Peace (with another civ)
  • Will Sign...
    • Peace Treaty (no way to check for cease fire I don't think)
    • Capitulation
And we should add the first icon to the scoreboard for AIs that are WHEOOH.

Yeah - you got it. Been playing some games with teams and PAs and that is (sort of) how vanilla BtS shows teams.

sevopedia feature request: (dunno if possible)

- civics sorted by type: legal, right, economy, religion

- tech tree

sevopedia feature request: civics sorted by type: legal, right, economy, religion

If I can find a way to do this generically, I'd be happy to add it. It would allow grouping strategy articles by section (currently each one has a letter code at the front of its name to force a sorting, ick).

tech tree

Hmm, other than being available from the main menu without starting or loading a game, how would this differ from F6?

F6 is not working for me from the main menu ?!?

It's not supposed to. Thus the "other than working from the main menu" clause, meaning that F6 doesn't whereas Sevopedia does.

What I'm asking is this: Is the reason to add the tech tree to Sevopedia that you want to be able to see the tree from the main menu?

Does anyone want me to split the Unit Location grouping's Territory entries into Land, Sea and Air (intercepting fighters)?

I can see the desire to easily discern which of your invasion force is by land and by sea. The Air category would be rather sparse, but again quite handy for quickly spotting enemy interceptors in the area.

Here's an idea, I had in a warlords version of my mod:
What about having the choice of showing the game pause text or even not to show it and just having the flashing red/green turn button?

And another small wish:
Some mods, like the Revolution mod for example, have the option to play as a minor civ, and as such you are not listed in the scoreboard.
Would you please add minor civs to the scoreboard (not to the box itself, but under the ox, just listing the score and the name)?

I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. I understand the end turn button, but is the pause text you're speaking of related to pausing the turn timer in multiplayer games? I must confess I have yet to play multiplayer.

Would you please add minor civs to the scoreboard (not to the box itself, but under the ox, just listing the score and the name)?

What exactly is a minor civ, and do you have an example? In the Python/SDK code I see that CyPlayer has isMinorCiv() and isBarbarian(), and I have never known what the first one was for -- only to hide them both in the scoreboard.

Showing them (one or both) should be relatively painless to add, I just need some way to test it. :)
