Researchable PM-based history quiz

Am I allowed to take part, although I set the previous round?
You can PM your answers, but you won't be able to win it.
:goodjob: to luceafarul for this quiz. I will enjoy researching, although with all the pictures that is somewhat tough. But I enjoy challenges.:)

This one looks very hard indeed. Lots of faces that i don't know. But after a moment of WTH, i just remembered what the second picture is about! And i didn't even have to look it up :D

I agree that some of the questions can be rather tricky, on the other hand a fair percentage of the pictures are depicting relatively well-known people or events, which could be a good starting point for directing your research in the right direction.
Of course, if necessary, I will clarify or drop hints.:)

To sydhe goes the honour of the first entry, he scores 10 p, identifying the person in #1 in the process.:goodjob:
And yet again there is an example of the great Homer nodding.:crazyeye: #8 has 2 solutions. I will consequently give 2 extra points if somebody can point those two things the four cities had in common.
By the way, unfortunately there seems to be a problem with the umages. I don't know what it is, the links are correct, but I can't open the upload archive. If this will go on, I will at least have to extend the deadline.
EDIT: We are back on the air, so no problem!

A second entry, Aion participating out of competition scores an excellent 16. That means that sydhe is still the leader.

Being an eternal optimist, the deadline is extended to Sunday.
I don't like the idea of going down in the annals of this forums history as the guy who created the dullest quiz ever, so I urge all the boffins here to mobilize, research and submit.

Well, I would try to solve the remaining questions otherwise, but a) I already have more points than sydhe and b) I'm out of competition anyway :) It's a pity though that there are not more participants :( as this is a pretty nice quiz.

As I have the same problems in my quiz I can understand you. However as I am just running a quiz I won´t participate on this although I know some answers right now, nr. 1 and 2 for example. I think it would not look good if I do so.

I don't think anybody would mind if you submitted, except for the fact that you being such a big, bad history bully would probably knock the day-light out of any competitors, that is.
Actually I was considering to submit to yours, even if due to personal issues I had originally intended to scrap those quizzes for a while. But yours are way to good to be neglected. I hope people get to their senses and give it a try.
And now for a little update; Till scores a fine 10, solving the bonus question in the process.:goodjob:

And so far you have 7. So we are back in business, so far the scoreboard is:
(Aion 16)
sydhe 13
Till 10
Adler17 7
So while 13 is a good score, the contest is indeed wide open. The crown is just here for the grabbing...

Not the dullest, just a very difficult quiz! All of these pictures prove very hard to 'research', and thus a major component of the quiz is rendered null for many of us. Simply put, you're just too smart, luceafarul.

Wow.
I am flattered. Really.
I must confess that I didn't do a "playtest", but I tried to use some pictures that should be known to many, at least. I can see that a few can be hard for those not familiar with the topics chosen, but that would be the case whoever made a quiz. And I am a virgin in this very type of quiz, and didn't have time to do a proper study of the preceding ones.
Anyway, we now have joint leaders, Tillhas managed to completely solve # 9:goodjob:, thus gaining 3 p more. Since he has threatened to come back, sydhe should watch out if he is still interested to win this one.

Picture quiz here are a bit difficulty. Either you have a point where to look, like the coat of arms question, or you have problems. So one or two are still okay.

On hindsight, I think only nr.4 is perhaps too difficult, since it is without any real glamour figures of history or other symbols that gives any obvious clue or provides you with any direction to start, unless you know any of the persons depicted. Apart from that, it should be possible to make a headway. But, it should be obvious that one needs to invest quite a lot of time and toil to solve everything, and looking back that has indeed been the case with the other quizzes as well. The preceding one was won by a less than impressive score, and lazy as I am I just did exactly enough to win it.:D
Now for the great news of the day, a new leader has emerged; Taliesin with 16 p:goodjob: . He is the first to answer nr. 10 correctly.

Boy, you weren't kidding that number 4 was difficult. I only knew one of the five people.

And yet you almost completely solved it...
I must say that you are on fire today, I am really impressed.
With the added score of the bonusq. and # 4, you have brought your score up to 24(!):goodjob:, and something tells me you aren't finished yet...
Now beat that, anybody!
