resources not seen after 1.61

After applying the 1.61 patch, tile improvements, bonuses, and tress/jungle are no longer seen. Moving the mouse over a tile, will correctly identify what is there. Lowering all the video settings down to the bare minimum does not help address this issue. All other graphics appear to work fine, and gameplay appears to be normal. I have unistalled/reinstalled w/o luck, and I am not using any mods.

I have this problem too.
Atm using an Old GF4MX as my Radeon crashed a few weeks ago.

I've actually never had any problems with Civ IV up until I installed the 1.6 patch (which is why I joined this forum). Now the game doesn't show resources on the map like it used to (I cna toggle the option but it's not as easy nor no where near as cool as when the map showed all the stuff in 3-d). It only shows roads now.

Second, I can't play single player any more b/c the 10 turn limit is activated and I can't turn it off, even when I set the cfg file to 0. (I can play past it, but it stops keeping score, "just a few more turns"). I do not have this problem when I play lan because there's a specific option allowing u to choose the turn limit and before every game I set it to zero, but there's no such option found now in single player.

Third - I was playing a LAN game that crashed on turn 325 AD - I reloaded an autosave and it crashed again on the same date, every single time repeated. This has also never happened to me and I have no idea why.

But I thought I'd add my two cents and let you know I was having the same graphics problems with resources as well.

yep.

i can't see resources, forrest and jungles too and I also have the 10 turn limit... we need help !

Are you using the original executable? The bare terrain was all that was visible with some "no-cd" hacked executables.

Everything that has been described on this thread has been happening to me...as I only recently got the game,and installed the patch shortly after,I'd simply assumed 10 turns was correct and unchangable...but,As I can now see,its definately a bug.I'd also assumed you just couldn't see resouces...though I did think it a little fishy when I couldn't see the tribal village in the tutorial.And the 325 ad thing?same here.

I hope,if we can't address these very annyoing problems,that they will release a new patch asap...this game was full of bugs from day 1...

I had this happening with 1.61 until I went back to an uncracked 1.61 game executable and dug my CD out of the depths.

It looks as though the game expects the copy protection process to be running and cripples itself it it isn't.

I meant to post back earlier, but the problem I described is due to a bad "no-cd" patch for v1.61.

Hi All,
I reinstalled the game and got the CD back from brother who was using it up at school - once I got right of my no cd hack, the problems were solved. I'm seeing lots of issues with other people online and it's definitely due to a bad no cd/dvd hack, the update appears to be able to detect it, oh well, just dig out your cd from the bookcase!
