Just out of curiosity here... Is there a way to "return" the few broken pieces of scrap metal to the Luchuirp?
Well thematically speaking it'll be cool if somehow the dwarves would be pressed to part away with a huge portion of their vaults :mischief: to get back their poor little golem (or even a huge relationship boost would be cool :D)
Afterall I wasnt the guy who broke barney in the first place... I simply mauled Alexis from behind while they were busy bashing each other's head in :crazyeye:
Well i suppose i could just build a warrior, pick it up and gift it back if i wanted... but..... just a crazy little suggestion on my part hehe~

Or just a spell that can only be cast by non-luchuirp civs that have the pieces. That way you could cast the spell, it could give a bonus of some sort(relations would be best) and it wouldn't really be exploitable unless you kept declaring war on them or following Barnaxus around until he died (but hey, you're playing cleanup crew for them so no harm :p ).

I just had a game where the Lanun wiped out the Luchirp and I stumbled across the pieces while at war with the Lanun. There really wasnt anything i could do with it, so I just left it there.

I'll change it in 0.34 so anyone can rebuild Barnaxus in a Luchuirp city (though he will always be rebuilt as a Luchuirp unit). Doing so will give you an attitude bonus with the Luchuirp.

What if the Luchuirp are wiped out? Could there be some secondary spells that it could be put to good use for? I'd imagine that having pieces of of advanced golem to study would be good for something.

Personally I've always been a fan of making the pieces of Barnaxus be pieces. Head of Barnaxus gives +1 sight range. Torso of Barnaxus gives immunity to First strikes and +1 Combat. Legs of Barnaxus give +1 Move Range.

Then of course you need all 3 pieces to reassemble him.

Except how do these pieces actually help you out? Magic weapons, sure. They gots the specialness that slays the other peoples. A dead golem's legs? Umm....not so sure how those are helping you out.

Could you also perhaps add an event too - perhaps sparked 20+ turns after a civ first has the pieces.

The Luchuirp request the pieces of Barnaxus are returned to them

1. Return them - small positive attitude bonus - but not as much as if returned of own accord.
2. For a fee - will cause a negative attitude bonus. The Luchuirp will offer upto 50% (with a ceiling figure) of their gold. Small chance of war (particularly if already with a negative attitude)
3. No. They are an important museum piece - give a culture bonus in city, causes negative attitude with Luchuirp, may spark war. Event may trigger again in 20+ turns.
4. The pieces must be destroyed. Big negative attitude, Luchuirp likely to declare war

If the pieces of Barnaxus are returned, perhaps there should also be the chance that they reward a civ with a Mud Golem (greater chance if returned of own accord)?

If playing as Luchuirp you could be asked if you want the return

We request the return of the pieces of Barnaxus
1) They are returned - our response?
a) "Thankyou, reward them with a Golem" [positive attitude, perhaps opens up talks for a military alliance]
b) "Thanks" [no effect]
c) "About time too!" [slight negative attitude]

2) They are asking for a fee
a) "The cheeky oinks! Declare War"
b) Offer 10gp [very small chance AI will accept]
c) Offer 10% of cash reserves/50gp (whichever the higher)
d) Offer 20% cash reserves/100gp (whicever the higher)
e) Offer 50% cash teserves/1000gp (whichever the higher)

AI accepting based on their own cash reserves + current attitude

3) They are converting it to a museum piece!
a) Abominable! Declare War!
b) There is nothing we can do [negative attitude]
c) We will try again [event returns]

4) They have destroyed them!
a) Declare War
b) Well I'm off down the tavern to drown my sorrows [negative attitude]

Regarding Barnaxus I'd like to see him having some start promotions to increase the chance that the AI won't screw up and loose him 10 turns after building the unit.
Something like a bonus vs melee or maybe better a good chance to withdraw.

I like that he hasn't the hero promotion and leveling him up carefully is part of the strategy, but the AI can't deal with that.

glad to see its being implemented :)

The way I picture it, Barnaxus isn't dead, just disasembled. Each part still works by itself.

So the head is extra vision range because you toss him in the air and get a report (or strap him to your shoulder looking the other way).

Torso you strap to your back so you have a second set of arms pointing back. So no First Strikes because nobody can get behind you, and extra combat strength because you have an extra set of hands.

The Legs you use like a pack mule, so it is easier to get around. Thus extra movement.

Poor Barnaxus, as if he hasn't gone through enough already. :)

wouldn't he go back to the luichirp himself? He's a leader, a hero, not a follower.

Maybe the pieces could make the unit carrying them always been seen by the lurch (with the first ring also?)
Than way it would also be easier for the lurch to retrieve them.

Actually, I think Barnaxus would be greatful, but would feel that it was his duty to return to the Luichirp. It's not so much that the Luichirp want him as that they need him (and he was made by a good according to the lore, so he's really on a mission).

So make him like Guan Yu in Romance of the Three Kingdoms -- he'll work for the civ for x turns to pay off the debt and then leave (and no fair killing him and rebuilding him, either). Maybe instead of going to war for the civ, he sits in a city and is worth 1 hammer for a few hammers for say 10 turns on normal?

In which case the legs should still be mobile, running off in random directions as it has not means of seeing which way its going. Given that it no longer has to support the rest of Barnaxus, they should get something like 3 move. Make for quite the merry chase.

One other pessimistic thought: Why would the Barnaxus parts want to assist the enemies of the Luchiurp? I've never seen a zombie's arm, once severed from the zombie, help the heroes fight just because they're wielding it.
