Rev3Games Gameplay Livestream with the Developers

I'm disappointed that 4 years removed from the release of Civ V that they have still been unable to squash some of the animation bugs, such as units running in place and air units attack animation looping.

Also disappointed that they are using the same old press build that Maddjin has been using and not the newest version.

Well, it's over.

David said aliens have aggression ratings against individual units, individual players, and humanity in general.

edit: No wonder the AI is so bad at 1UPT tactical movement... the lead developers seem to suck at it as well. :D

They also said that different alien units would be generated more frequently based on their aggression ratings, I believe. If they are more aggressive, stronger units will be generated from nests. Thought that was interesting, not sure if we'd heard it before.

No, but the music will be dependent on affinity and planet biome which is better.

If the Affinity-dependent music is replacing the Sponsor-dependent peace and war themes, then I don't think it's better. If the Affinity-dependent music is akin to (and extensive as) Civ V's geographic-based soundtrack, then it's amazing. Either way, it'd be nice to have sponsor-dependent Peace/War themes in the early game and transit to Affinity-dependent themes as the game progress.

Oh also, they did say the AI's difficulty scaling would be more focused on harder AIs having better strategy, rather than simple buffs... though I think we'll all believe that when we see it

At around 1:04 they talk about favors a bit, and David says that they can be used even if the opposing faction doesn't agree to the terms - that with many favors the other faction has no choice but to agree. I think this is great, it means that favors have some teeth and potentially can be significant in the game - even in MP, though in SP it will most likely have a fairly high cheese factor - I was worried that favors just sounded cool but would end up being ignored.
