RevB (Warlords) and RevC (Vanilla) available

I think that I found the cause.

I turned off the High Detail Terrain option, and now the game runs as before, so consider it fixed I guess..

I'm one of those who never had any sound problems (except a weird one with the music which I've never seen reported by anyone else) under original release or Rev A, and then got them big-time under Rev B. I'll install Rev C when I get home tonight and let people know if it fixes the bugs :)

(anyone else in the same boat?)

Oh, if it matters, my system is a Quad G5 running 10.4.9.

EDIT: And it works fine. Full sounds, full animations, everything working, internet play working, no visual bugs, and even the weird thing with the music is fixed! Yay!

Heh. I wonder if having 10.4.9 helped, Bazzalisk?

It is certainly possible. Still the patch says it clears up sound problems, and lo the sound problems (which appeared mysteriously in Rev B not having been there before) did clear up, so that I'll chalk up to the patch.

Still, the combination of Rev C and 10.4.9 seems to work well.

Good. Perhaps I'll finally get around to downloading and applying the Civ IV patches sometime this weekend.

I haven't had much time to play Civ IV lately and, combined with the issues some other posters have reported, that's made me a bit cautious about just blindly applying Aspyr's Civ IV patches.

it should be up now...

Sounds like you need to contact Aspyr, then.

What makes you think they are planned?

Because too many people are reporting problems. Aspyr might want to stay in the Mac gaming business long term and to do that they have to offer enough perceived value to keep Mac gamers from just saying "Screw it, I'll just use Boot Camp from now on!"

so i set all video settings back to default and it seemed to work... i made it 45 min with no problems (except for a horde of barbarians :D). I'll start turning settings back up one by one to isolate the problem.

I haven't seen anyone mention it yet:

I recently re-installed Civ4 and Warlords, after having removed it a couple of months back since I coulnd't patch it (macbook issues, see previous patches threads), and I was too busy anyway ;)

I reinstalled a fresh Civ4 and fresh Warlords and went straight to the newest patch, and lo and behold! Works great on my macbook :D A few videos seem to be a bit slower, but the game runs at the same speed as before, and I haven't experienced any crashes or graphical issues yet.
