RevolutionDCM for BTS

We just changed a few values, messed with the governments and what they return, added some of Afforess' modmods and removed all the weights on the AI for choosing civics. They play TOUGH and smart. We don't tech trade at all and have revolutions and barb civs on. We play at Monarch and the barb cities are killer. (Literally!)
 
I figured out how to reproduce these python exceptions. This bug is still there.
Spoiler :

With Python exceptions on you can't play RevDCM. At first I thought this was a problem with my merge updating LoR to a new test build using the latest RevDCM SVN, but it also occurs for standard RevDCM with no modifications.

Those exceptions just repeat, you can't play the game, it's just stuck there.


To reproduce, simulate a fresh install (delete all ini files in your UserSettings folder), and then start a game with Minor Tribes and Barbarian World selected (I don't think Barbarian World is the cause, I'm pretty sure this bug is related to Minor Tribes, and some BUG interface issue with checking for war status without the ini files being created, but that's just a guess).

Hmmm. With all these extra translations going into the mod, an error like you have highlighted, will probably need sorting.
I'm just trying to get my mod work with french, spanish, italian, german language settings ie. the default ones which come with BtS. The python exception does not hinder gameplay in anyway, just annoys me a bit (the above test was with French language) and I'd like to get it fixed eventually. Later I'll try to add support for simplified chinese language to my mod since it has been requested from me but for now I'd be happy to get those default choices work.

How about the gamefont problem with those new BUG project icons?

Problem noted. At this stage we have no-one in house that can quickly merge game fonts. I personally have no experience at doing it but with time, I could do it. Anyone up for the job to merge RevDCM fonts and the new BUG fonts? I note that you think that there is some other issue with font slots being already used.

That takes only a minute or two to do, I can put them in the same location (i.e. the line above the smilies and health icon). I have no idea whether they would be picked up from there though (due to the different sizes / slots of the font files).

If you guys deal with that part, I will merge them :)
 
Thanks Mamba. An initial look there seems to be seven "computer type" icons that are the only additions because we have the rest. Logically your suggestion of placement above the smilies and health icons looks correct. If it only takes you a short while, please give it a try. There is no immediate urgency because there are a few other small but irritating problems at the moment.

RevDCM runs no slower for me than normal Civ. Perhaps your PC isn't very good?
 
Hello everyone.
I managed to fix te problems I had earlier. It really is embarrasing, but the files I was trying to add were mispelled and I was unable to tell (actually some had spaces inbetween them which I was not able to see). Anyway, I managed to fix it finally.
However, now I have a problem of the interface not showing up when I start the game... any ideas?

Wait a few days until the next version is released, I think you will notice an improvement. However no matter what, the BTS engine to this day, is designed around standard numbers of civs for best turn times, no matter how powerful your PC is.

An absent interface means you need to check the python error logs because the python subsystem has crashed.

Yes good point to remember the language issue where Zappara has shown that there is a bug possible when changing languages. Ultimately that causes python to flame out which causes the interface to drop. Check the python error logs is always the way, so long as you have logging enabled.

Has there been any progress on getting the JCultureControl mod integrated with the new RevDCM?

Also, is there any way to limit what techs are available, say by era, without having to create a separate mod by editing the XML?
Answered my own question, FOUND IT HERE

Also, is there any way to limit unit upgrades to cities only, and possibly only if there are certain buildings in that city?

I do realize the finnish translations are a lot of work. Could you zip me up your xml text folder from LoR and post here so that I can try and squeeze it in for the next release? I'm really pressed for time but am aiming to release 2.6 by this wednesday 11pm PDT.

Wow, awesome. Attachement in this post. Merri did the Finnish translations for LoR, so I'm not sure if there is something else you need to set, I know it's all XML though, and I can't find anything in GlobalTypes.xml which is where I'd expect a new language dependency to exist if it's necessary. So probably nothing else needs to be done, other then adding the tags to the text files.
