RFC: BtS Bug Reports

Crash bug, easily repeatable. Conquerors event.

I am the Mayans, trying to settle Mayapan (plains/hill/island SE of Florida, USA). Doing so apparently puts me in sight of the Portugese and tries to trigger the Conquerors event. The game crashes to the desktop. If I open WB and delete the Portugese unit and settle the city the game plays fine. The very next turn the Spanish swing by and when they get in range of Mayapan the game drops the units from the event off over on the mainland.

I don't think that there will be any more fixes for RFC but with any luck the bug can be taken care of in a future version of RFC Epic/Marathon - that may actually still be in development.
 
Oh I figured as such. Just thought I'd document it, plus if anyone else has the same problem they'll know how to bypass it.

Yeah, who knows - someone could actually put together an unofficial patch with bug fixes?
 
I don't know if someone mentioned it before. Sorry if so.

When I was looking in the python files (for my 2nd UU modcomp), it appears that the Egyptian UU (and some more UUs) can be a mercenary. Did Rhye forgot that one?
 
I always thought it was intentional. Who says there are no war chariots offering themselves as mercenaries?
 
As I have never seen the AI Egypt build a War Chariot, I'm glad that War Chariots can and do appear from time to time as mercenaries.

I have trouble fufilling the first historical victory condition while playing as the Mali in the BTS 600 A.D. start. I think it has to do with the way demographics are measured in BTS because I typically have around 1500 gold with +100/turn. Is there a patch or update that changes the way GNP is calculated or alters the first victory condition?

You will need a Great Merchant to visit Europe and more than 1500 gold to get that victory condition.
 
You should release them rather than just delete. Deleting leaves the upkeep costs, at least sometimes.
 
The Mercenaries mod-comp is a beast of its own - its basically just merged with RFC. So there it may of course have hick-ups of its own.
 
I hired some mercenaries to conquer Shushan, succeeded, and killed the mercenary that was still alive. However, 2 turns later I'm still playing upkeep for that mercenary. Save included.

Call it "pension for the poor mercenaries' family" since you unjustly executed them for their faithful service instead of releasing them. :D

I have to roleplay things like that to keep me in a game without raging :D
 
Hey guys, I've just gone to boot up RFC: E/M, RFC: DoC and RFC:E and with each of those, when I clicked "Play a Scenario", it would black out, throw up an error report and kick me back to the desktop. What gives? It was fine when I was playing earlier, and I haven't restarted my system since then.
 
I am sure I am repeating a question here but I downloaded BtS on steam and am using a Mac and have the same problem every game. If I am not one of the first 4 civs the "auto turn bar" never moves and never goes down. I have left my computer alone for a long time and nothing has happened. Someone please help!!!
 
Are you running the version of RFC that shipped with the game, or did you download a later version? Because you're supposedly not able to run anything but the first Mac version - any later updates are for PC users only.

But I do believe that there is a working Mac patch available on these boards, check the mod-mods section.
