The city of Qart-Hadasht was founded, and they start production on a cothon. I load my Numidian Cavalry and a settler on a boat, and send them east, fortify one archer in Qart-Hadasht, and send the other two by land across North Africa to the east. I create fishing nets with one work boat, and send the other one behind my fleet.
I meet Pericles of Greece, who seems to have a killer headache. Must be from the tight bronze helmet. But he agrees to open borders.
In between the turn, I meet Ramesses II of the Egyptian Old Kingdom, who is wearing eyeliner? Kids, stay away from him.
Carthage needed to expand, so they declare war on Greece. No hard feelings, Pericles.
The next turn, my Numidian Cavalry attack Athenai. They utterly pown two phalanxes and a warrior, but one warrior remains.
Later, they attack again and destroy the final two warriors and capture Athenai. Athenai then starts on a monument to the hero of the battle, Numid Barca. From his name we get the name of these cavalry. But Pericles was out of the city when it was captured. He received the news from a courier traveling north through the Balkans.
Hannibal sends an emissary to the capital of Ramesses II for an exchange of knowledge. After many hours of negotiations, they decided on two deals: Ramesses would give Hannibal the knowledge of Monotheism and Agriculture for the Carthaginian knowledge of Priesthood. Ramesses also allowed Carthaginian military and civilian units to travel through his territory, or open his borders.
Carthage felt the urge to expand again. But this time, they could not do it through their military, as they were battered and not ready for war again. So, they found the city of Barca on the coast of the Mediterranean south of Athenai and to the west of Egypt. The city was named in honor of the famed general who won the battle of Athenai.
A few weeks later, Carthaginian diplomats enter the new capital of the Greek League, Apollonia and propose a deal: both civilizations would have a ceasefire.
Soon after the treaty of the Peloponnesus, Hannibal met another leader, Julius Caesar. There were many things named after him, from cities to salads to plays. But Hannibal recalled that his ancestors of very long ago had problems with a man with that same name.
Many years later, the Carthaginian Navy met one of the oldest civilizations in existence, Babylonia. They were considered ancient compared to Carthage, Greece and Rome.
There was an Independent city near Babylonia named Sur. If Hannibal could take the city, he would have a foothold in Palestine, and would control territory that his elders used to own.
Also, emissaries were sent to the Babylonian Capital to negotiate a deal. The Carthaginian would give Hammurabi knowledge of Monotheism and Fishing, and Hannibal would learn a new form of government, monarchy. Babylonia also opened its borders to Carthage.
The battle of Sur was a short one. Numid Barca and a mercenary axeman assaulted the city defenders. The Independent military was weak, and easily defeated. Sur was captured, but due to a small mistake, the city burned to the ground.
There was another Independent state in Palestine: Yerushalayim. Hannibals military was already in the area, so he declared war on them. But the struggle would be longer than Sur. Immediately Two Numidian Cavalry were defeated, as well as a mercenary axeman. But two Independent Archers were killed, yet one remained.
Around this time, the second major conflict between two civilizations arose. Rome declared war on Greece. Carthage did not take a side, but if they had to, they would declare war on both civilizations.
