The major bug I see on your screenshot is that your city produces 20 food yields and it counts only 19... Or is that a settled slave in your city ?
 
Regarding crashes, perhaps that's a SVN promlem .. I'm playing the regular download, but yeah I haven't met any crash yet, and playing as the Byzantines I have gone as far as 700 AD ..

Edit: wait, how come the Ptolemy's control Egypt ?? The Byzantines have spawned, they should have got Egypt and the Levant ... Weird

I'm fairly certain the Byzantines only flip cities that belong to the Romans. No Romans...no Byzantine flip. Makes a lot of sense.

Well, the whole raison d'être of the Byzantine Empire is to weaken the Roman civ starting in the 4th century, so for it to be powerful as a seperate entity doesn't make much sense. However, it could be justified as the renaissance of Greek culture that was conquered by the Romans.

Either way it would still make sense, so depends where srpt wants to take it.
 
I'd rather see the raison d'être of a strong Byzantium in avoiding OP Sassanids, their archrivals.

I'll be away from my computer for about a week starting today.

giving Byzantium more units if they only flip a few cities might be a good idea. I'm not very concerned about their situation on a 320BC start. on the 220AD start the mix is good: sometimes the Romans have taken Damascus or Aleppo for you, sometimes not, sometimes the Sassanids are breathing down your neck, sometimes not etc.

Finally managed the second UHV for Jin! You need six luxury resources by AD 350 for it. Four are easy if you have managed the first UHV. You have silk in many places.

Gems are available in Shu, you only need to hurry a monument and protect the mine against barbarians.

Incense can be found in North Vietnam, close to Au Lac. Their city is heavily defended, and the challenge consists of sparing enough veteran troops, while keeping up your defense against barbarians and your stretched economy. I used about 6 veteran heavy spearmen, 2 horsemen and a catapult.

The sixth luxury was the hardest. Scouting around, the only reasonable target was the ivory in Funan. However, the land route is blocked by jungles and you can't go that way!

However, there is an alternative. Trying again, I started building troop transports in Min Yue and Nanhai in early 300, boosting their production output with many of my slaves. I was able to finish two troop transports by the 330s, and could send down an expeditionary force with four heavy spearmens and four workers/slaves.

Funan fell, and with a margin of one turn the resistance ended and I could build the camp for the ivory.

Jin has been a very fun challenge so far. I've had to replay many, many times - not because I was getting unlucky with the random number generator for combat, but in order to adjust my strategy. The number of troops you control (and lose!) is huge. For instance, Changan produces a heavy spearman in 3 turns, and you need those number for the conquests and defending against barbarians. At the same time, you can't neglect your economic infrastructure, especially with the third goal looming. The need to conduct an amphibious invasion under time pressure is a nice final twist. What a wonderful mod :)
 
Egypt is better for having just a bit of economy in the early going.
 
For the third UHV, I just had to tech until 464 straight to stirrup. Nothing really special happened, I just consolidated my empire. It is a great feeling though, after hectic expansion, to enjoy the spoils of conquest for a century.

For the Seleucids, I would definetly say go for Egypt first. In all my successful runs I've done that. Otherwise, the Egyptians will have time to build up their defenses (more so than the neutrals). Additionally, it is quick to get to Anatolia from Egypt, you don't waste that much time moving your units. On the other hand, it is a long trek to go back all the way from Athens to Egypt. Furthermore, you need your veteran units in Greece to defend against Rome. I also think that the cities in Egypt provides a larger economic boost than Anatolia, so you want that quickly.
 
I'm currently playing as the Seleucids and I can tell you that they are a great challenge!
Poor economy at the beginning, a lot of enemies , slow tech advancing, barbarians from everywhere attacking!
I posted some days ago saying that you can only survive by building wealth. Do so until you have conquered the Ptolemy's, who must be the first that you attack. The hint is: lose maximum 1 unit. If you lose battles, load the turn again.. When I finished with them I had lost only 2 mercenaries( no big deal) and I had 2 level 3 elephants and one level 1 (or 2 don't remember :/ ) hoplite! And it was around there that the first great general spawned!
Then I moved my experienced units to Anatolia and Greece.. No loss, all of the cities occupied! You will have to defend Byzantion and Thessaloniki from barbarians though.. Move a spearman from Seleukia or Damascus to Byzantion, and leave two units who are strong against melee in Thessaloniki. Both cities need walls! Athens left without any garrison, so I did with Ephesos. Sinope needs an archer .
If it takes a lot of turns to build them, move units from well secured areas inside your empire to borders (for example from Tyros, Antiochia, Susa) .
After conquering Greece I moved my 2 elephants and the hoplite to sub Saharan civ ( dont remember their name, they had orange color) and took their cities, just for some extra xp! Use the slaves for some quick farms and then settle them, you need the production for some archers and walls.
Then the Maccabees will spawn. The trick I used is to let Jerusalem fall to the barbarians that will spawn first, so the actual civ have some problems with them taking the city! When the barbarians spawn, move the Jerusalem troops to Tyros and wait for the civ to spawn. When they do, don't attack Jerusalem because their units will keep respawning. Attack their other units outside the city. I was lucky because I got some nice mercenaries (horse archers) and after 2 turns their units were all dead. Then wait for some more turns to attack Jerusalem and heal yourself. After 10 turns have passed from their spawn, attack Jerusalem and say goodbye to the Maccabees!
While I was fighting the Maccabees the Romans declared war on me! Great, more xp! I lost all egypt when their army spawned, but I took it all back when I finished with the Maccabees! And then the second great general spawned!
I used my great generals as great persons to settle in my capital so I can produce mega units! This will help you to cope with the Parthians !
After signing peace, I traveled to India to trade : horses for ivory!
And then I started building elephants in capital and wait for the Parthians to spawn ! Theres my 3rd general! After some heavy battles, both my army and the Parthian one were exterminated, and when I sent the second wave of elephants to their cities, I managed to extend my borders to my old cities and left the Parthians with only their capital and Herat, nearly collapsed :)

I also pushed the Celtic start back by 3 turns so its very possible to raze both Massilia and Mediolanum before the Roman spawn. I managed to defeat their first attack and later got the peace event. I can see how Britannia and Anatolia are a bit crazy as goals. ther is no way to get sailing to reach Britannia as you have no techs to trade. in my game I was teching for archery but it was taking a long time.

has anyone played the Kushans and successfully dealt with Parthia?

I had a go with Kushans now. Sadly I didn't make many pictures, as I didn't expect to succeed on the first try. The initial Baexdzhyn (their special horse archer) plus mercenaries were actually enough to defeat a strong Parthian empire. They had control over all of Mesopotamia plus a good chunk of India and had plenty of marksmen, but the starting stack sufficed. After conquering Parthia, I swallowed India and improved my infrastructure.

Han still seems unwilling to trade away silk, so the easiest way for "3 in any combination of wine, silk and incense" was to conquer Saba. They were the vassal of a strong Egypt, so I had to conquer the Levant as well. India, Persia, Mesopotamia, Levant, Saba plus Samarkand and associated area was the natural limit, anything else and my economy would totally collapse. I ran at 0% most of the time, with several cities running wealth, but the starting techs are so good that you can trade them for a huge number of techs.

By 200 AD I had succeded in all the goals (remaining incense was a culture expansion away), so I just had to wait until 300. Spawning Sassanid gave a war in between, and in their dying breath they vassalized to the Romans in order to extend the war. Nevertheless, once you get the Kushan empire up and running, it is smooth smailing.

With both the svn and non-svn versions, I get frequent CTDs in the late game (after 200 AD), where on a specific turn the game crashes and always does on that turn despite reloads. I have the same old civ as anyone else...so I'm really puzzled as to what the problem might be. I shall look into this.
 
Both crash for me as well. Which version are you running? Have you updated RFCC after starting these games?

There seems to be an issue with the mysticism tech: when I research it, I crash, but otherwise the game goes on fine. Later turns, if I research mysticism then, the game will still crash.
