RFC Europe playtesting feedback thread

where's rhye?? Is he working on civ5 stuff now?

Also, there are many national wonders with equivalents to the old forbidden city, oxford university, etc but no wall street equivalent??? Is this to prevent genoa from taking too much power or what?

Rhye isn't involved in this mod.

Yes, those national wonders are the equivalents of those wonders.

Well.. 'Wall Street' doesn't really fit in, since this is rfc 'Europe'. 'Wall Street' as a financial center is located in New York City which places it outside of the region and I dare to say that it only became really important after the date at which this mod ends :)

The 'Forbidden City' wouldn't fit in either but afaik it's called 'Summer Palace' and that makes it suitable imo.

In my current game with Spain I was the only one to have completed any Colonial Projects in 1600 (Yeah, playing on Viceroy, I'm a whimp  ) - but the victory condition did not register as completed in the game.
The other 1600AD one did though.

More have mentioned this bug. We will fix this in the next version.

Hello again... I mentioned earlier an issue with the Cordoban UHV. Is it not going to be looked into? Ditto the CTD with the mercenary icon. Any news on this???

I saw that you mentioned it. But I don't have the capabilities to fix that problem. And I have no idea when the other coders can fix it.

Very well. Thanks alot for the update (were you talking about the mercenary icon or the Cordoban UHV though?)

Uhh what is it with the cordoba UHV? I've only heard about the venetian and spanish?

Can someone upload a savegame just before spanish UHV should finish? I'm not very motivated to play Spain till 1600 at the moment.

It's too difficult getting Cordoba to become the largest city by 1000AD. It's a UHV based on what another CIV accomplishes (either Rome or more likely Constantinople), something over which the Cordoba player has no control. The best I could ever achieve was parity. For the heck of it, I got so tired of trying I made the city larger via World Builder... and still didn't clinch that UHV. No fun. :(

I did it once. It requires dedicated focus - and I mean REAL focus, but it can be done. Also, you need to found the city exactly on your starting position, otherwise it does not count for the UHV.

Uhuh, a chance in a million... That's no fun and it departs from the vast majority of the other UHV's in the game which aren't anywhere near as tough. That's not right.

Sieging Constantinople usually does the trick

Thanks Taijian.

About the Cordoba UHV, i'm actually pretty happy about this UHV. Like Taijian said, it requires focus, the first building you should build in Cordoba is the Noria, and then you have to watch that you allways work on the tiles with the largest food. Even the tiles with 1 :food: 2 :hammers: help a lot in the long run. On the other hand you have to get your health and happiness ressources as soon as possible so that this does not block Cordoba's growth.

Constantinople usually has a size of 12 and if you have 12 too you usually win. But i'm allways open to changes if many players have big problems with this UHV.

@civ_king
I haven't ever thought about sieging Constantinople, does it really work that well?

I agree. At first it seemed too hard but if you focus all tiles, turn on growth governor and build correct buildings you usually win since the plague is hard on Constantinopel!
