RFC Europe playtesting feedback thread

Yes, this behavior is definitely a bug. I'm pretty sure that switching to protestantism was working well at some point in the past, so some introduced change must have broken it. We'll fix it.

That is great to hear. Excellent modmod btw, to be honest I like it a bit more than vanilla RFC :)

Any chance the mercenary icon could be removed entirely? I'm getting tired of having my games crash because my pointer erred near that icon.

Are you saying that hovering over the mercenary icon crashes the game for you? Unless something broke recently the mercenary screen works fine for me. Are other people having problems?

The second.

I already thought so. But then "Yaqub" and "Yusuf" should be swapped. (But that's no problem, because I already did that in revision 481)

Many pages ago I asked this question but didnt get any answer.

"Templar executive unit upgrades into Pikeman (or Landsknecht, as german) making them obsolete and cant be produced anymore. Meaning the knight order cant be spread any furrther.

Is this intended or? Only had time to spread the Templar order to ~4-5 cities because of this. "

Anyone who knows why? Or has this been fixed in a recent patch?

IIRC it was implemented to forbid expansions of the templars and hospitaliers after a certain date because it was ahistorical and bad for gameplay to have those companies all around the world in 1650. Maybe the automatic extension rate should be higher so that the companies spread to more cities.

It sure does! I use this bug to exit the game instantly! ;)

This question is answered one time. (I asked the same thing;)) And IIRC, it's both intended and it isn't. We want them to become obselete after some date, but we didn't have the best solution yet. (Although I'm fine with it.)

Okay so its intended but its a bad solution. Reason is that the window where the corporation can be spread is too short. Delaying the tech to get landsknecht/pikemen could work for a little while but could result in akward tactical desicions. Afaik the other corporoations can be spread during a much larger window.

The historical victory conditions for Spain don't seem to work. I'm past 1600 AD and had more colonial projects than anyone else at that point, yet the win wasn't awarded. The victory conditions screen still shows a "Not Yet" status (after 1600AD???)

---------------------------

Edit

Tech trade also seems to be a problem. It's ok at the easiest setting, but at the normal one it's almost impossible to trade techs, even at a rate of two for one. If you can't trade techs at all, the game is pretty much hopeless (if not merely frustrating).

Other question: is it truly necessary to require fishing boats to enable Atlantic Access resources? It seems contrived to have to use fishing boats to allows high seas ships to reach the New World. Atlantic Access can still be subject to blockade either way.

France UHV is really tough. I have tried many times now, each time streamlining the strategy to push for the first UHV goal. Now, last time i tries, I had yet to take out pamplona, german capital and the two cities italy /milan and the other one. Pamplona had 2 crossbowmen, one with city defender promotion. There was no way I could break that with the army I had, and the german and italyian cities could very well have the same kind of defence...

Edit: Im playing on monarch btw, as I usually do when i play normal unmodded BtS. Is RFCE UHV's tuned for playing on viceroy?

I'm playing it on Monarch and i increased the difficulty of the UHV a bit because i was sitting on all these cities when it was 840. The strategy is to get Lancers and Heavy Lancers as soon as possible. Once the first ones are finished you have to go for the barbarian or italian cities. With the Heavy Lancers and some gold to upgrade some Lancers you should take out Pamplona easily (with some casualties of course). And you should not forget to build the two settlers for Lyon or something and Frankfurt. One can be easily done by Milan, if you capture it early.

Perhaps someone else who played it since the last patch can say something about the difficulty.

Playing now on viceroy and I made it. Milan and Florence had only an archer per city but Pamplona still had 2 crossbowmen. I solved that by just building another settler and settled a city between Barcelona and Pamplona. Very tight around there, sure but I made the UHV condition.

A question: can forests grow in this mod? Trying to get forests spread to increase health, but it seems they wont grow at all or Im just very unlucky.

The health bonus is removed in this mod. This is to make cities unhealthier in general, like they were in the Medieval age.

To take out independent cities, you need some city raiders. To train them, attack some barbarian units at the lowest odds possible, use a free win slot and upgrade your unit.

The wonder that gives +1 specialist for each town only gives it to the city it was built in, kinda like national park in bts. But it doesnt say so on the description of the wonder. It just say each town provides +1 free specialist, which can be misinterpreted.

Yes it can. But it's the same text as the national park. Only "forest preserve" is switched to "town". If this can be misinterpreted, the national parc civilopedia can be misinterpreted too.

That is true. Come to think about it, coastal wonders that improve that citys watertiles usually specify that its only that single city that gets benefit. I wonder why the wording is diffrent with national park.
I guess it goes without saying since it would obviously be too overpowered if it was nationwide.

where's rhye?? Is he working on civ5 stuff now?

Also, there are many national wonders with equivalents to the old forbidden city, oxford university, etc but no wall street equivalent??? Is this to prevent genoa from taking too much power or what?
