Rice came to Italy by way of Arab merchants as far as I know, just like they lifted the idea for the Pizza from the Arab world .. like early European Japanese - taking something foreign and making it their own only betterHave you heard of Italian risotto ?

Same thing for the Paella, it too originated with the ones from the east, in that case the Moors.
On a completely unrelated note:
Sacking Jerusalem gives a happiness and faith boost, but what when it fails or city is lost again?
I am getting sick and tired of watching Charlemagne trying and failing repeatedly, couldn't the Pope penalise unsuccessful crusades by removing faith points and/or happiness in the same vein?
Many uncompleted crusades should give alot of unhapiness, as the people would be angry for wasted time and effort in a foriegn land.

Since this doesn't appear to be based on history, what is it based on?
Huh?Or maybe the Magna Carta.
Um, King Richard the Lionhearted was extremely unpopular in England because he was failing to rule them and instead participated in Crusades, which failed. Also it is a bit of common sense, people waste men, money, and effort on some foriegn land, that has no noticable effect it their lives, and said foriegn land remains in enemy hands, they aren't going to be too particularly happy...Since this doesn't appear to be based on history, what is it based on?
I ran into a situation where a city that I had captured the turn before became "independent" along with the entire invasion force that had just moved into it. Is this another bug?
Depends, did the city secede form your empire (a message should appear at the top of the screen "Paris has seceded" or whatever).
Not really. For much of the time period of the game, monarchs did not directly control most of the army, since there was no standing professional army. Most of it was owned by feudal lords who could very well decide that they were tired of cooperating with the king (notably in Poland). As a historical feature, it's nonsense.
Kyiv food.
Hi, I tried play Kyiv with Beta 9. On main screen, under stability points there is info about food. For a long time there was value 0. Now I can see there value 100. I supposed, there should be value of collected food for UHV. Is there a way how to find out amount of collected food elsewhere?
