RFC Europe playtesting feedback thread

Then whats the point of having the Norse?

I don't think anyone is arguing the challenges that a separate Swedish civ would create from a game-design standpoint. The source of the present issue here is the natural sentiment everyone has of seeing their own culture represented in this mod, just as you like to see all of the game's Turkishness adequately represented! ;)

Perhaps, but I'm only ever for historical accuracy. So if you ever see me saying something "ahistorical", then you can stop me. I'm only for having a historically accurate game, but at the same time a fun game.

Perhaps? Why perhaps? Don't you agree that most people would naturally want to see their own history represented in a mod such as this one? It's unavoidable.

It's not necessarily the best course of action from a game design balance pov, but an earlier spawn of Sweden is historical... sounds like we're saying the same thing here.

No, its something called "interpretation". And as Merjin said its better gameplay wise, as I've stated before as well.

Nice of you not to recognize that most people would naturally want to see their culture in a related mod. Of course, you do realize that personal "interpretations" often depart from true history, despite your belief that you are historically-minded.

I never disagreed with that part.

Strange thing happened when playing as France. I managed to collapse the spanish civ and upon conversion to independent cities Cordoba received the city of Toledo for some reason. They werent even on the Iberian peninsula.

Edit:
- Why are theatres so cheap? Its a more complex building than an Inn I would say

You are probably right on this
What about 80 cost for all theatres (opera house and hippodrome as well)?
Or maybe 100?

We may also lower the Inn's cost to 120

While setting this I found that the Hippodrome doesn't have Drama as prereq tech
I'm not totally sure here: Is this an extra feature for the UB, or a bug?

One more thing:
We should come up with a better bonus for Coffee House
Right now it costs 200 hammers, and gives +25% war weariness while giving +1 happiness from Sugar, Coffee, Tea, Tobacco.
Most civs won't even have those resources, or max 1-2 out of the 4.
War weariness can easily generate more unhappy faces than this +2 bonus for happiness
So it costs 200, with giving max 2 happiness during peace, and generating at least 2-3 during wartime...

Hi,
I'm playing the mod for the first time now, started with the Bulgarian, an my problem is that I can not convert to any religion though all my towns are either catholic or orthodox. Is that a bug or a feature?? And if the first, is there an easy way to fix it?
Attached is a saved game...
Thanks already

Is your Religion civic Paganism? If so, you have to switch to another one in order to adopt a religion.

You have to switch away from Paganism first (in the civics section)
You can choose a religion after that

EDIT: crosspost :)

many thanks for the fast response and yes that is a good idea by the designers...

Yeah I agree. It was a good call by 3Miro
Will add a few hints, so these changes won't be that confusing for the new players:

- In RFCE you cannot proclaim a state religion while you are at Paganism. You have to change your civics first, then declare a state religion.
- You cannot prosecute a religion from cities where this religion is tied to one or more wonders/shrines. So if you play with Spain and want to win by UHVs, don't keep cities with such wonders
- etc...

Extra feature. You don't need to know Drama for riding a horse. ;) And for Byzantium, that tech comes very late due to their slow tech rate. They would hardly ever build it when it was tight to Drama.

The funny thing is that the Netherlands are barely represented in the mod despite the Dutch in the forum. However, in the scope of Europe our role was very minor so let's not try to buff them, we're cool with the fact that we are represented at all.:D
